The Gallup Korea Survey 2024: Top Korean Drama Actors of the Year
From November 11 to 25, Gallup Korea conducted a nationwide survey (excluding Jeju). A total of 1,741 respondents aged 13 years old and over participated in the survey. They were asked to name up to two of the most outstanding Korean drama actors of this year.
On December 18, Gallup Korea announced this year’s top Korean TV drama actors. Based on a Gallup Korea survey, here are the top 10 Korean TV drama actors in 2024.
Top Korean TV Drama Actors
1. Kim Tae Ri – 11.9%
Actress Kim Tae Ri received 11.9 percent of the votes, making her the most shining Korean TV drama actor of the year. The 34-year-old actress captivated audiences as Yoon Jung-nyeon, a talented rookie Gukgeuk artist, in the tvN weekend drama “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born.” She showcased her Gukgeuk acting, dancing, and pansori singing over 12 episodes. Previously, the actress and other cast members were trained for one to three years to embody their roles.
2. Kim Soo Hyun – 11.7%
Actor Kim Soo Hyun came in second with 11.7 percent of the vote. The actor excelled in his role in the romantic drama “Queen of Tears.” He plays a simple man from Yongduri village who marries a conglomerate heiress and experiences difficulties in their marriage. His performance brought his character to life, and his chemistry with Kim Ji Won captivated the audience.
3. Kim Ji Won – 8.9%
Kim Ji Won took the third place with 8.9 percent of the votes. In “Queen of Tears,” she successfully plays the role of Hong Hae In, the chaebol heiress. As she struggles with her marriage and health, she takes the audience on an emotional roller coaster.
4. Byeon Woo Seok – 5.5%
Rising star Byeon Woo Seok took the fourth place with 5.5 percent of the votes. The actor received significant attention from K-drama fans for portraying Ryu Seon Jae in tvN’s drama “Lovely Runner.” Recently, he won the Favorite Global Trending Music Award at the 2024 MAMA Awards.
5. Namgoong Min – 4.9%
Actor Namgoong Min came in fifth with 4.9 percent of the vote. For his outstanding performance in MBC’s historical drama “My Dearest,” he won two Best Actor awards. They are from the 2023 Grimae Awards and the 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards for the drama category.
6. Han Suk Kyu – 4.0%
Actor Han Suk Kyu claimed the sixth position with 4.0 percent of votes. The actor perfectly embodies the character of Jang Tae Su in MBC’s action psychological thriller “Doubt.” He plays a legendary Korean criminal profiler and a single father who struggles to build trust with his daughter.
7. Park Shin Hye – 3.7%
Actress Park Shin Hye, who made a stunning comeback this year with two dramas, secured the seventh position with 3.7 percent of votes. The actress takes the lead roles in JTBC’s rom-com drama “Doctor Slump” and SBS’s legal drama “The Judge from Hell.”
8. Cha Eun Woo – 3.5%
Idol actor Cha Eun Woo secured the eighth position with 3.5 percent of the votes. He captivated the viewers for his distinct roles in MBC’s dramas “A Good Day to be a Dog,” and “Wonderful World.”
8. Kim Soo Mi – 3.5%
Veteran actress Kim Soo Mi, who passed away in October, also received 3.5 percent. The late actress is known for her role in MBC’s “Country Diaries” (1980-2002).
10. Jang Nara – 3.4%
Actress Jang Nara rounded out this year’s top 10 Korean drama actors by Gallup Korea survey. The actress gained 3.4 percent of votes for her impressive performance in SBS’s legal drama “Good Partner.”
In addition to the top 10, several Korean drama actors received more than 1.0 percent of the responses. Park Eun Bin received 3.0 percent, Song Hye Kyo received 2.7 percent, Song Joong Ki received 2.2 percent, and Kim Nam Gil received 2.1 percent of votes.
Moreover, Jung Hae In, Kim So Yeon, and Ra Mi Ran each received 2.0 percent of the votes. Meanwhile, Honey Lee and Shin Min Ah received 1.9 percent each. Ahn Eun Jin received 1.8 percent, Go Doo Shim received 1.6 percent, and Ji Sung received 1.5 percent. Lee Byung Hun received 1.4 percent of the votes, while Kim Hye Ja and Lee Soon Jae received 1.3 percent each.
The list continues with Kim Go Eun, Han Ji Min, Park Seo Joon, Kim Hye Soo, and Choi Soo Jong received 1.2 percent of the votes. Kim Yoo Jung, Ji Chang Wook, and Jo Jung Seok received 1.1 percent each. Finally, Park Bo Gum, Kim Hae Sook, and Shin Hye Sun received 1.0 percent each.
