The Gallup Korea Survey 2024: Top Korean Movie Actors of the Year
The Gallup Korea conducted a nationwide survey (excluding Jeju) from November 11 to 25. The survey involved 1,741 respondents aged 13 and older. The respondents were asked to name up to two Korean movie actors who stood out this year.
On December 19, Gallup Korea released the results of its surveys for the top 10 Korean movie actors of the year. Check out the top Korean movie actors of the year below.
Top Korean Movie Actors
1. Ma Dong Seok – 26.5%
Actor Ma Dong Seok claimed the top spot in Gallup Korea’s 2024 top Korean movie actors list. He held the first position for the second consecutive year and received 26.5 percent of the votes. The actor starred in and was directly involved in the planning and producing of the fourth installment of “The Outlaws,” titled “The Roundup: Punishment.” The crime thriller drew over 11 million admissions, marking the fastest film of 2024 to reach this milestone.
2. Hwang Jung Min – 14.2%
Actor Hwang Jung Min came in second of Gallup Korea’s 2024 top Korean movie actors with 14.2 percent of votes. The actor starred in hit movies from November 2023 until September 2024. The film included: “12.12: The Day,” “Mission Cross,” and “I, the Executioner.”
His portrayal as Jeon Doo Gwang in the historical film “12.12: The Day,” also known as “Spring in Seoul,” left the audience in awe. Thanks to his outstanding performance, he won two Best Actor awards from two prestigious award shows. These awards are the 2024 Blue Dragon Film Awards and the 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards.
3. Kim Go Eun – 12.2%
Actress Kim Go Eun took the third position with 12.2 percent of votes. The actress amazed the audiences with her roles in the movies “Exhuma” and “Love in the Big City.”
Kim Go Eun won the Best Actress Award at the 2024 Blue Dragon Film Awards for her excellent performance in “Exhuma.” The 33-year-old actress also received the same honor at the 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards.
Furthermore, for her outstanding performances in both films this year, she recently won the Best Actress Award at the Women in Film of the Year Korea Festival.
4. Choi Min Sik – 11.7%
Actor Choi Min Sik secured fourth place with 11.7 percent of votes. The veteran actor successfully portrayed the character of Kim Sang Deok in the popular occult movie “Exhuma.”
5. Lee Jung Jae – 10.0%
Actor Lee Jung Jae came in fifth place. This year, the “Squid Game” actor’s popularity continues to soar globally. He made history as the first Asian Jedi Master Sol in the global OTT series “Acolyte.”
6. Lee Byung Hun – 8.3%
Actor Lee Byung Hun took sixth place, earning 8.3 percent of the votes for his role in “Concrete Utopia” in 2023.
7. Song Kang Ho – 7.3%
Actor Song Kang Ho, who debuted in TV dramas with his performance in Disney+’s “Uncle Sam-sik” after 35 years in the industry, obtained 7.3 percent of the votes.
8. Jung Woo Sung – 5.3%
Actor Jung Woo Sung, who took eighth place for his role in “12.12: The Day,” gained 5.3 percent of the votes. He received the Best Actor Award at the 2024 Buil Film Awards for his captivating performance in the movie.
9. Yoo Hae Jin – 5.0%
Actor Yoo Hae Jin, who captured audiences’ hearts with his performances in “Dog Days” and “Exhuma,” gained 5.0 percent of the votes.
10. Son Suk Ku – 3.4%
Son Suk Ku rounded out the top ten Korean movie actors of the year with 3.4 percent of the votes. His work in “Troll Factory” and the 12-minute original thriller “Night Fishing” has stunned the audience.
Among the top 10, 15 actors received more than 1.0% of the votes. These actors included Jo Jung Suk (3.1%), Kim Hye Soo (2.9%), Jung Hae In (2.8%), Sul Kyung Gu (1.7%), Ha Jung Woo (1.6%), Kim Soo Hyun, Gong Yoo (over 1.2%), Cha Eun Woo, Song Joong Ki, Park Bo Gum, Yoon Yeo Jeong (over 1.1%), Kim Tae Ri, Lee Do-hyun, Ra Mi Ran, and Ryu Seung Ryong (over 1.0%).
