THE GLORY Brings Spotlight to More Real-Life Bullying Scene in South Korea: the PYO-YE-RIM School Violence Case
Thanks to The Glory Korean drama, more school bullying true story can finally gain a spotlight, inviting the public to expose the most horrible real-life bullying scene in South Korea.
KoreaTimes reported a few days ago that a real-life school bullying victim named Pyo Ye Rim had been actively seeking justice thanks to The Glory.
According to the report, The Glory bullying scene and how Moon Dong Eun solved her past nightmare inspired her to end her real-life miseries. And she has been telling her stories on various TV stations and sharing her horrifying school bullying experience with her followers in South Korea.
In her stories, Pyo Ye Rim elaborated on the horrible bullying that 4 female friends had done to her during her school days. Not only that, but she also revealed how South Korea’s school system did nothing to prevent or solve the case at the time.
Together with Korean media MBC, Pyo Ye Rim decided to unfold everything. Following the path of The Glory Korean drama, Pyo Ye Rim continues to fight against real-life school bullying scene with her true story.
What Happened in the Pyo Ye Rim True Story?
Previously, Pyo Ye Rim’s real-life school bullying true story was brought to light by BBC Korea. At the time, she stated that The Glory kdrama and its bullying scene inspired her to take action.
“After watching Moon Dong Eun, I blamed myself a lot.
For so many years, I have been running away from those perpetrators because I was terrified of them. So it was relieving to see ‘The Glory’ Korean drama end with a successful revenge.
Moon Dong Eun’s feelings reached me, and I began wondering what to do now. I am 28 years old, and I realized I must take action.”

She then began unraveling her stories on TV stations and YouTube videos. And it turned out that Pyo Ye Rim’s true story revealed a real-life bullying scene much worse than in The Glory Kdrama.
12 Years of Constant School Bullying from the Same Perpetrators
Pyo Ye Rim grew up in the small town of Euiryeong, South Gyeongsang Province. Not many people resided in the area, so students would most likely have the same classmates throughout their school years. From elementary to high school, Pyo Ye Rim attended school with the same classmates, so she had experienced a total of 12 years being bullied by the same 4 perpetrators in her school.
According to Pyo Ye Rim, the 4 perpetrators chose her because she was quiet and a loner. That’s why it made the 12 years long bullying easier for them. They would drag her to the restroom and force her head into a toilet bowl. While throwing abusive language, their bullying got even worse when Pyo Ye Rim refused to answer them.
The Teacher Was Present But Did Nothing
A classmate of Pyo Ye Rim testified on a YouTube stream that the bullying would continue even when the teacher was present. What’s worse, the teacher did nothing to protect her.
“There was a time when the 4 bullies called Pyo and began beating her during class. Yes, the teacher was there, but simply did nothing.”

This real-life teacher’s negligence was also crucial in The Glory Kdrama and its bullying scene. In fact, Pyo Ye Rim also gave up asking for help from the teacher because they only blamed her instead.
“I told my one teacher about the bullying. It took me extreme courage to open up. Yet all I got was questions that made me feel everything was my fault.”
Pyo Ye Rim.
Due to this terrible response from the teacher, Pyo Ye Rim decided to stay quiet. And that is why her parents didn’t know anything about the case.
Inspired by Moon Dong Eun in The Glory, Pyo Ye Rim demands justice against the perpetrators of her real-life bullying true story. She realized that while she was suffering and had to rely on medications to keep her life normal, all the perpetrators live their normal lives in happiness.
Unfortunately, her case has passed the statute of limitation.
Perpetrators Revealed
Since Pyo-Ye-Rim real-life bullying true story went viral in South Korea, someone suddenly decided to help her and reveal the identity of the perpetrators.
According to Korean media KMIB, a Pyo Ye Rim school alumni, A, testified 4 girls named Choi, Nam, Lim, and Jang had bullied Pyo Ye Rim from elementary to high school.
“They bumped Yerim’s shoulder on purpose. After that, they would knock her down and abuse her, assaulting her because they claimed her clothes smelled bad. Then, they grabbed her hair and forced her head down into the toilet bowl.
And if she didn’t respond, they would harass her even more.”

A then stated that they could no longer ignore Yerim’s pain, so they disclosed the identity of the 4 bullies. They posted their school graduation photos, as well as their most recent ones.
According to A, the leader of the bullies, Nam, was serving as a military officer. Meanwhile, Jang was working as a hairdresser, and Lim was living well with her boyfriend. At the same time, Choi was living a new life after changing her name.
Immediately after the shocking reveal went public, the hair shop where perpetrator Jang worked in Changwon immediately terminated their contract with her. Moreover, the shop’s head office was looking into the case seriously and is considering suing Jang for damaging the brand in a separate lawsuit.
For the record, Pyo Ye Rim had nothing to do with the name reveal. It all came from the school alumni A through a now-deleted YouTube video.

More Bullying and No Remorse
What’s surprising was that even after their names went public, the 4 perpetrators showed no remorse. Instead, just as how The Glory depicted in the Kdrama scene, the true story revealed that they fought back and bullied Pyo Ye Rim even more in real life.
During the MBC’s True Story Expedition program, the perpetrators were angry at Pyo Ye Rim. One said to her: “Are you Pyo Hye Kyo?”, “I don’t remember?”, “What kind of novel are you writing?”, “Stop messing with our lives!” while another one stated she didn’t remember what she did.
“I’m sorry for you. I don’t remember everything I did in the past. But I do remember that I was a little harsh to you.
Would it be easy for me if I say I’m sorry? What did I do? Did I slap you on the face, did I pull your hair, did I go and mess with you?
I was only immature and young at the time.”

Then, worse things happened. Pyo Ye Rim then received more bullying from the perpetrators. Wikitree reported on April 23 that the perpetrators allegedly created a YouTube channel to spread malicious rumors about Pyo Ye Rim. They fabricated statements and accused Pyo Ye Rim of being a liar and insane, while mocking her parents as well.
What’s worse, the perpetrators also planned to sue Pyo Ye Rim. They sent certificates of contents, asking for a legal punishment against her. And it caused more extreme stress that Pyo Ye Rim was finally taken to the emergency room on April 22 for attempting to make an extreme choice.
“It was a dangerous situation if we were just a little late.”

Unlike THE GLORY, Pyo Ye Rim Real-Life Bullying True Story is Still Ongoing in South Korea
