“The Glory” Korean drama has affected school bullying victims with positive influence, helping them to cope with their situations better. Check out the following report to know more about what happened to these school bullying victims and how “The Glory” Korean drama has helped them.
BBC Korea Release Stories of Real-Life School Bullying Victims Inspired by “The Glory” Korean Drama
The South Korean branch of BBC, BBC Korea, released a story report titled: “The Story of Real Dong-Euns”. The story revealed how “The Glory” Korean drama has provided solace and positive influence for school bullying victims in real life.
In the report, BBC Korea interviewed several school bullying victims in South Korea: the real Moon Dong Euns who had suffered from real-life school bullying. It particularly covered the stories of an adult man and woman who had suffered school bullying tragedies in the past.
“The Glory” Korean Drama Brings Hope after 12 Years of Becoming School Bullying Victims
The first story from BBC Korea covered the life of a 28-year-old hairdresser, Pyo Ye Rim. For the whole 12 years of her school life, she suffered from horrible school bullying. Her schoolmates kicked her in the stomach, dragged her to the bathroom, and forced her head into the toilet bowl.
Since graduation, she had forced herself to ignore and forget the horrible memories. That is why she originally didn’t want to watch “The Glory” Korean drama. She was afraid that she couldn’t handle the drama because of her past bullying experience.
However, Pyo Ye Rim wanted to see the difference between the choices that she and Moon Dong Eun made as school bullying victims. Therefore, she decided to watch “The Glory” Korean drama even when it was difficult for her.
“I was a school bullying victim for 12 years from elementary to high school. During those days, there were approximately 90 perpetrators in total.
More than half of my classmates participated as the perpetrators. They put me in the middle of the blackboard and continued kicking me repeatedly until they see a response. It was when I was in 5th grade when the teacher asked me, ‘You really didn’t do anything wrong to these kids?’ but answered, ‘Please save me, please help me’. I wondered what my teacher thought when hearing my plea.
I believe the drama was unrealistic, though. It’s not that easy, that’s why some victims choose suicide because of school bullying. It became our last choice, mine too. But at the end of the day, I wanted to live. So, am I alive of dead now?”

An Inspiration to Take Actions
Further in her testimony, school bullying victim Pyo Ye Rim revealed how Moon Dong Eun helped her realize that she had to take action.
“After watching Moon Dong Eun, I blamed myself a lot.
For so many years, I have been running away from those perpetrators because I was terrified of them. It was really relieving to see ‘The Glory’ Korean drama ended with a successful revenge.
Moon Dong Eun’s feelings reached me and I began wondering what I should do now. I am 28 years old, and I realized I have to take action.
People have been telling me I’m not Song Hye Kyo. I’m not even Pyo Hye Kyo. They also told me that it has been way past the statute of limitations so what can I do now?
Still, what I want right now is not a direct revenge. My ultimate goal is that there will be no more school bullying victims like me. I want to prevent anyone from becoming a school bullying perpetrator and committing such a crime.
By reaching the goal, it will be my most ultimate revenge.”

A Sincere Apology is What the Victims Needed
Another one of the school bullying victims is Lim Ho Gyun, a 24-year-old pet care service provider. Different from Pyo Ye Rim who was abused physically by the bullies, Lim Ho Gyun suffered mental bullying from his perpetrators.
In his case, school bullying occurred during middle and high school. And that was when he suffered from severe depression due to subtle and persistent verbal abuse. As a result, he had to receive treatments at multiple centers and closed psychiatric wards.
“They bullied me in a clever way. Almost every day, they got on my nerves, and repeatedly did it to me until I felt extremely scared and nervous.
For a very long time, I have been struggling alone. And today I feel very bad seeing those perpetrators living their lives well. They are famous and have so many followers now.
It’s really not easy to just forgive everything. I want to receive a sincere apology. After all, I never wish to get involved in a such horrible situation.”

This testimony is just as what Kim Eun Sook once stated in the press conference. A statement that was also portrayed by Moong Dong Eun in “The Glory” Korean drama: at the end of the day, even after they had suffered from such horrible injustice, what these school bullying victims want is for the perpetrators to feel sorry for what they did and apologize with sincere hearts to them.
