On September 5, the Korean Business Research Institute unveiled the newest brand reputation rankings for the most popular Kpop rookie idol groups in September 2023. These rankings reflect the most favored and popular rookie idol groups among avid Kpop fans. So, let’s dive right into this month’s highly anticipated top Kpop rookie idol group brand reputation rankings.
September 2023 Most Popular Kpop Rookie Idol Groups
The Korean Business Research Institute conducted an in-depth analysis of big data to determine the brand reputation rankings of newly debuted idol groups. Only male and female rookie idol groups that debuted in 2022 and onwards were considered in this analysis.
The Institute analyzed the big data from August 5 to September 5, 2023. A total of 18,858,701 pieces of brand big data were collected, indicating a 17.10% decrease compared to the previous August’s data. This analysis utilizes big data to understand the changing world of Kpop and discover new talent.
In September 2023, NewJeans maintained their top spot, captivating fans with exceptional performances. Following closely behind were LE SSERAFIM, ZEROBASEONE, H1-Key, and NMIXX, all making significant impacts on the industry.
Top 5 Rookie Groups
1. NewJeans
- Brand Participation Index: 1,741,264
- Media Index: 2,086,897
- Communication Index: 1,987,530
- Community Index: 1,672,982
NewJeans has maintained their first-place position for the fifth consecutive month. The group recently released an OST titled “Beautiful Restriction” for the new Kdrama “A Time Called You.”
Furthermore, their brand reputation index witnessed a significant increase. It stood at 6,732,407 in August and rose to 7,488,673 in September, showing a growth of 11.23%.
The Institute also conducted other analyses of the NewJeans brand, such as link analysis, keyword analysis, and positivity-negativity analysis. In link analysis, “Super Shy,” “Billboard,” and “OST” were identified as the group’s most popular keywords. Meanwhile, their link analysis revealed “record,” “certify,” and “advertise” as the group’s popular related terms.
Additionally, NewJeans received an impressive 91.89% positive reaction, showing overall brand positivity in the positivity-negativity analysis.
2. LE SSERAFIM

LE SSERAFIM’s brand reputation index saw a significant decrease this month. It fell by 42.07% from 4,441,881 in August to 2,572,983 in September. However, despite this decline, they remained in second place. Another positive development was their album “UNFORGIVEN,” which returned on Billboard’s World Albums Chart. It reclaimed the 9th position in its 18th week.
3. ZEROBASEONE

- Media Index: 486,578
- Communication Index: 679,332
- Community Index: 610,499
Despite a 15.99% decrease in their brand reputation index from 2,562,499 to 2,152,729 this month, ZEROBASEONE remained in third place. The group recently received official million certifications for selling over 1 million copies of their debut mini-album “YOUTH IN THE SHADE.”
4. H1-KEY
- Brand Participation Index: 138,596
- Media Index: 403,283
- Communication Index: 444,320
- Community Index: 526,198
In fourth place, H1-KEY’s brand reputation index experienced a significant increase of 42.63%. It rose from 1,060,337 in August to 1,512,397 in September. The success of their viral hit “Rose Blossom” likely caused their surge in popularity. As a result of the event, their mini-album “Seoul Dreaming” saw an increase in sales. Additionally, H1-KEY’s win in their first music show for their title track “SEOUL (Such a Beautiful City)” on September 5 certainly contributed to their growing success.
5. NMIXX
- Brand Participation Index: 125,048
- Media Index: 160,683
- Communication Index: 217,565
- Community Index: 156,186
Finally, NMIXX rounded out the top five on the list this month. They recently announced their fan concert, “NMIXX CHANGE UP: MIXX UNIVERSITY,” scheduled for October. However, their brand reputation index fell 57.51%, from 1,552,194 in August to 659,482 in September.
