The Korean Business Research Institute has published the latest rankings for the most popular South Korean movie stars in July 2023. Actors Ma Dong Seok, Lee Joon Hyuk, Son Suk Ku, Lee Byung Hyun, and Park Sung Woong claimed the top five most popular Korean film actors of the month. The Korean Business Research Institute analyzed 208,751,830 records of 50 Korean movie stars from June 13 to July 13, 2023, showing a 4.17 percent decrease compared to the data collected in June 2023 (217,846,066 records).

Using this dataset, the institute determined brand reputation rankings for Korean movie stars in July 2023 by analyzing brands’ participation, media coverage, communication, and community indexes.

As a result, Ma Dong Seok, Lee Joon Hyuk, Son Suk Ku, Lee Byung Hyun, and Park Sung Woong emerged as the five most popular Korean movie stars in July 2023.

Top 5 Popular Korean Movie Stars

Korean action actor Ma Dong Seok ranked first for the second consecutive month on this month’s brand reputation rankings for Korean movie stars. The actor held onto the position since he successfully played the role of Ma Suk Do in his recent film “The Roundup 3: No Way Out.”

However, his brand value experienced a decrease of 26.99 percent since last month. His brand value decreased from 17,814,502 in June to 13,006,579 in July. Furthermore, in the link analysis, popular terms related to Ma Dong Seok included “thank you,” “breakthrough,” and “exhilarating.” In the keyword analysis, “The Roundup 3,” “10 million actors,” and “Ma Suk Do” were identified as the actor’s top-ranking keywords.

Moreover, Ma Dong Seok achieved a positive rate of 92.65 percent in the positivity-negativity analysis. Additionally, aside from his position in the Korean movie star rankings, Ma Dong Seok secured the 3rd position in the most popular Korean advertisement model rankings in July.

Further, both Lee Joon Hyuk and Son Suk Ku experienced a decrease in their brand values, with declines of 26.18 percent and 27.81 percent, respectively. However, both actors maintained their positions in the second and third positions.

Lee Joon Hyuk, who also appeared in “The Roundup 3: No Way Out,” earned a brand value of 8,137,363. Meanwhile, actor Son Suk Ku, who just made a stage comeback with “Army on the Tree,” earned a brand value of 7,578,206 this month. Currently, he is preparing for his next movie titled “Comment Army.”

Actor Lee Byung Hun, who recently made a big-screen comeback with “Concrete Utopia,” soared to fourth place. His brand value increased by 21.76 percent, from 5,892,697 in June to 7,174,770 in July.

Lastly, actor Park Sung Woong came close in fifth place and completed the top five this month. The actor recently returned to the big screen with the movie “A Man of Reason,” directed by actor Jung Woo Sung. His brand value experienced a staggering surge of 166.54 percent since last month, skyrocketing from 2,243,325 to 5,979,335.
