October 2023 Top Rookie Kpop Idol Brand Reputation Rankings
The Korean Business Research Institute conducted a comprehensive brand reputation analysis for new Kpop idol groups, including boy and girl groups. It evaluates the brand reputation index by considering consumer participation, media coverage, communication, and community engagement.
They analyzed 14,997,673 new Kpop idol group brand big data from September 3 to October 3, 2023, focusing on groups that debuted in 2022 or later. However, the data decreased by 20.47% compared to September’s data of 18,858,701.
As a result, NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM, and ZEROBASEONE maintained their top three positions for the fourth consecutive month. Furthermore, BOYNEXTDOOR and H1-Key ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.
Top 5 Rookie Kpop Idol Groups
1. NewJeans
In October, NewJeans topped the rankings for the sixth consecutive month. The ADOR’s rookie group has made another history in the Kpop industry. The group’s album “Get Up” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The group’s achievement makes them the fastest female Kpop act to reach the top spot.
Their success didn’t stop there, as they spent 10 weeks in the top 60 and dominated Billboard’s World Albums chart for an impressive nine weeks. Additionally, they received a Bonsang (Artist of the Year) at the 2023 The Fact Music Awards, further solidifying their popularity among fans.
In terms of brand reputation, NewJeans has garnered significant attention this month. They received a customer participation index of 694,330, a media index of 833,812, a communication index of 1,196,357, and a community index of 1,642,964. As a result, the group gained a brand reputation index of 4,367,463 in October, which is 41.68% lower than last September’s index.
In the keyword analysis, their popular phrases were “Super Shy,” “Hype Boy,” and “League of Legends Worlds.” Additionally, their highest-ranking related terms were “surpass,” “collaborate,” and “achieve.” Notably, the group received an overwhelming 90.87 percent positive reactions in their positivity-negativity analysis.
2. LE SSERAFIM
LE SSERAFIM is gearing up for their much-awaited comeback with their digital single, “Perfect Night.” Unfortunately, their brand reputation index this month experienced a significant decline of 45.99%, scoring 1,389,556 compared to last September’s index of 2,572,983.
The decrease in their reputation can be attributed to lower scores across multiple indices such as customer participation (273,616), media coverage (339,373), communication (470,414), and community engagement (306,154).
3. ZEROBASEONE
ZEROBASEONE, a rookie Kpop boy group that debuted on July 10, 2023, recently received the prestigious Next Leaders awards at The Fact Music Awards. They also made history by selling over 2 million copies of their debut album.
In terms of brand reputation, ZEROBASEONE had an impressive performance this month. They earned a customer participation index of 200,900, a media index of 253,993, a communication index of 356,860, and a community index of 516,943. Their brand reputation index for October reached 1,328,695, declining 38.28% compared to last September’s index.
4. BOYNEXTDOOR
Kpop boy group BOYNEXTDOOR made an impressive debut on the Billboard 200, entering at No. 162 with their mini album “WHY..”. They also achieved high rankings on other Billboard charts and received a remarkable brand reputation this month.
The rookie boy group earned a customer participation index of 215,600, a media index of 275,525, a communication index of 386,740, and a community index of 113,470. Consequently, their October brand reputation index reached 991,335, representing a substantial increase of 215.03% compared to last September’s index of 314,684.
5. H1-KEY
H1-KEY’s mini album “Seoul Dreaming” made a strong debut at No. 3 on the Weekly Album Chart of Circle Chart (formerly Gaon Chart). In terms of brand reputation, they achieved impressive indexes this month: customer participation index of 107,506, media index of 135,771, communication index of 191,895, and community index of 422,224. Consequently, their brand reputation index reached 857,396, declining 43.31% compared to September’s index.
