The top five spots with the highest brand reputation index were NewJeans, RIIZE, BABYMONSTER, ZEROBASEONE, and LE SSERAFIM. December 2023 Top Kpop Rookie Idol Group Brand Reputation Rankings
The Korean Business Research Institute conducted a comprehensive analysis of the brand reputation of new Kpop idol groups, encompassing both male and female groups. They evaluated consumer participation, media coverage, communication, and community engagement factors.
In their extensive data analysis for December, they gathered a total of 18,143,413 pieces of new idol group brand big data, spanning the period from November 7, 2023, to December 7, 2023. This number reflected a significant increase of 23.65% compared to the 14,672,783 rookie idol group brands recorded in November.
As a result of their findings, NewJeans continued to dominate the top spot for the sixth consecutive month, while RIIZE maintained its position in second place. Notably, the new girl group BABYMONSTER entered the list in the third position, followed by ZEROBASEONE and LE SSERAFIM in the fourth and fifth positions.
Top 5 Rookie Idol Groups
1. New Jeans
Rookie group NewJeans remained in the top position for the eighth consecutive month. Their hit song “Super Shy” made an impressive entry at No. 38 on Billboard’s “100 Best Songs of 2023” list. The group’s achievements can be summarized as follows:

- Community Index: 1,319,312
NewJeans’ December brand reputation index improved significantly, scoring 4,120,010 compared to November’s score of 3,782,258. This represents an increase of 8.93%.
In the keyword analysis for NewJeans, phrases such as “Super Shy,” “Get Up,” and “Bunnies” ranked high. The related terms that received the highest rankings were “record,” “race ahead,” and “chosen.” Additionally, the positivity-negativity analysis revealed that the group received a score of 87.55 percent positive reactions.
2. RIIZE
RIIZE, SM’s rookie boy group, climbed to the second position on the list last month. Recently, luxury brand Louis Vuitton appointed the group as their newest house ambassador. Based on the analysis, the group’s achievements can be summarized as follows:
- Participation Index: 550,074
- Media Index: 734,614
- Communication Index: 1,130,753
- Community Index: 803,681
As a result, RIIZE’s brand reputation index saw a significant increase in December, scoring 3,219,122 compared to November’s score of 1,351,756. This represents an impressive growth of 138.14%.
3. BABYMONSTER
BABYMONSTER, YG’s new girl group, made a remarkable achievement with their debut single, “BATTER UP” MV. The music video surpassed 50 million views in just under 4 days and 8 hours after its release on November 27 at midnight KST. This sets a new record for the fastest debut MV by a Kpop group to reach this milestone. According to the analysis, the group achieved impressive results as follows:

- Media Index: 443,750
- Communication Index: 636,924
- Community Index: 589,734
In December, BABYMONSTER achieved a brand reputation index of 2,051,726.
4. ZEROBASEONE
Despite dropping to the fourth position, rookie boy group ZEROBASEONE maintained their presence in the top five with an impressive brand reputation index. Their hard work and talent were recognized, as they received double nominations at the 38th Golden Disc Awards. According to the analysis, ZEROBASEONE achieved impressive results as follows:
- Participation Index: 257,642
- Media Index: 333,560
- Communication Index: 453,044
- Community Index: 750,088
As a result, ZEROBASEONE achieved a brand reputation index of 1,794,334 in December, representing an impressive increase of 8.42% compared to last November’s index of 1,655,018.
5. LE SSERAFIM
LE SSERAFIM, Source Music’s girl group, dropped to the fifth position this month. However, it is worth noting that the group was recognized as one of the Kpop artists with the highest-grossing tours in 2023, according to Billboard. Despite their lower position, the group achieved impressive results as follows:

- Media Index: 428,739
- Communication Index: 590,921
- Community Index: 407,714
As a result, LE SSERAFIM achieved a brand reputation index of 1,774,686 in December, reflecting a substantial increase of 57.96% compared to last November’s index of 1,123,473.
