Actor Steven Yeun of “the Walking Dead” will reunite with “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho in a new sci-fi thriller movie at Warner Bros.
Steven Yeun to Co-star with Robert Pattinson in New Sci-Fi Thriller Movie by Director Bong Joon Ho
“Okja” Reunion
Earlier this month, famous actors Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collete, and Naomi Ackie were announced to join Robert Pattinson in the upcoming novel-based movie “Micky7” (working title). In addition, the “Minari” star Steven Yeun is the latest cast announced to participate in the upcoming film.
Robert Pattinson is expected to be the film’s main lead “Mickey7” (and his replacement). Meanwhile, there are no further details regarding the roles of other stars announced, including the former “the Walking Dead” star, Steven Yeun.
The new movie “Micky7” marks Steven Yeun and Bong Joon Ho reunion project. Previously, actor Steven Yeun and director Bong Joon Ho worked together in Netflix’s “Okja.”
Director Bong Joon Ho will direct the movie, write the screenplay, and produce it for his production company Offscreen. Moreover, he will also team up with Choi Dooho for Kate Street Picture Company and Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B to produce the movie as part of the latter’s overall deal with Warner Bros.
Moreover, besides Steven Yeun and Bong Joon Ho’s reunion, it also marks the three companies’ second project together after Netflix’s allegorical drama “Okja” in 2017.
“Mickey7”
The upcoming sci-fi film is inspired by a novel titled Mickey7 by Edward Ashton, published last year by St. Martin, a Macmillan imprint. However, according to sources, with Bong’s experience with adaptations, his version is likely to be different from the original. His previous work was “Snowpiercer,” starring Chris Evans and Octavia Spencer (2013), based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige.
The sci-fi thriller film follows Mickey7, an Expendable (a disposable worker), on a human expedition consigned to colonize the ice world, Niflheim. The crew will assign Mickey whenever there’s a hazardous mission. After one body dies, a new body is rebuilt, with most memories intact. He then understands the terms of his deal and refuses his clone Mickey8 takes his place when he returns to base after being presumed dead.
Steven Yeun New Movies
Steven Yeun is famous for his roles in the movies, “Okja” (2017) and “Minari” (2020). He is the first-ever Asian-American who received an Oscar nomination for his fantastic performance as the main lead in the A24 film “Minari” last year. And this year, he continues to do great work.
