5 Reasons to Watch the New Netflix Korean Film “Revelations”

1. Latest Work of Director Yeon Sang Ho
Renowned director Yeon Sang Ho helmed the new Korean film “Revelations” for Netflix. This is the third project that he wrote and directed, after “The Bequeathed,” “Parasyte the Grey,” and “Hellbound” Season 1 &2.
Furthermore, he is the mastermind of numerous films such as “Train to Busan,” “Psychokinesis,” “Peninsula,” and “Jung_E.” He is also the original creator of “Save Me Season 2,” “Hellbound,” and “The King of Pigs.”
2. New Project of “Hellbound” Creators
“Revelations” is the latest project of director Yeon Sang Ho and screenwriter Choi Kyu Seok, who are known for their previous global hit “Hellbound” and “Hellbound 2.”
Both thrillers “Revelations” and “Hellbound” have the same theme of exploring beliefs. However, “Revelations” offers more substantial psychological elements than the supernatural element, as in “Hellbound.” Further, the storyline is thought-provoking and keeps audiences engaged throughout the scenes.
3. Adaptation from “Gyeshirok” Webtoon
The thriller is a live-action adaptation of a gripping Kakao webtoon series, “Gyeshirok” (계시록), created by Yeon Sang Ho and Choi Ky Seok. The webtoon was initially released from April 22 to September 1, 2022.
The story follows a small church pastor, Sung Min Chan, who meets a new church visitor, Kwon Yang Rae, who unexpectedly is a former criminal with an electronic bracelet on his leg. The story unfolds when his wife tells him a man took his son after school. At the same time, a teenage girl is missing.
He suspects that the man with an electronic bracelet kidnapped his son. Meanwhile, detective Lee Yeon Hui, who knows Kwon Yang Rae, is chasing him and trying to lock him up in jail.
With an intense storyline, this gripping film will captivate audiences.
4. Stunning Performances by the Cast

Actors Ryu Jun Yeol, Shin Hyun Bin, and Shin Min Jae are teaming up for the first time in “Revelations.” This film also marks Ryu Jun Yeol’s first work with director Yeon Sang Ho and screenwriter Choi Kyu Seok. Meanwhile, for Shin Hyun Bin, this film is her second work with the director after “Monstrous.” It is also Shin Min Jae’s second collaboration with the director following “The Bequeathed.”
In the film, Ryu Jun Yeol plays Pastor Sung Min Chan, Shin Hyun Bin plays Detective Lee Yeon Hui, and Shin Min Jae plays Kwon Yang Rae, the man with the electronic bracelet. The main cast members successfully portray their roles, while director Yeon Sang Ho highlights each character perfectly.
Ryu Jun Yeol perfectly portrays Pastor Min Chan in every scene with his incredible acting skills. His calmness as a pastor slowly becomes chaotic due to his turbulent thoughts. Unbeknownst to him, his decisions lead him to the brink of collapse as he grapples with a mental disorder.
Shin Hyun Bin plays detective Yeon Hee, who is haunted by guilt over her younger sister’s death and experiences visions that trigger anxiety. With little emotion and a blank stare, she struggles to find the criminal responsible for her younger sister’s loss while trying to focus on her work as a detective.
Shin Min Jae plays Kwon Yang Rae, a man with an electronic bracelet who keeps his sharp eyes focused on his target, creating a sense of fear and giving goosebumps to anyone who sees him, including the audience.
5. Must-Watch Psychological Thriller
This film explores Apophenia—seeing patterns or connections in randomness, often as “revelations,” usually linked to schizophrenia—and Pareidolia, recognizing faces or figures in objects. Together, they blur reality, sometimes dangerously, as some people may believe inanimate objects deliver messages as “revelations.” Through these phenomena, the film explores the mind’s ability to create meaning, challenging viewers to question perception and the boundaries of reality.
