Netflix’s New Korean Drama Series “Doubt”: Cast, Characters, and Release Date
Storyline
The upcoming Korean drama “Doubt,” previously known as “The Intimate Traitor,” is a psychological thriller that follows Korea’s top criminal profiler, Jang Tae Soo. As one of the pioneers in his field, he paved the way for criminal behavior analysts in the country, earning the utmost respect and trust within the police organization.
Although he is considered a legendary criminal profiler in Korea, he is a single parent at home, raising his daughter, Jang Ha Bin, on his own. He faces a dilemma when he unexpectedly discovers that his daughter is involved in a murder case he is investigating.
This revelation shakes his professional beliefs and complicates his relationship with his daughter. Nevertheless, he struggles to uncover the truth in order to protect her.
Korean Drama “Doubt” Cast and Characters
Han Suk Kyu as Jang Tae Soo
The only police officer-turned-profiler in Korea—and, at the same time, a terrible father.
Tae Soo also wanted to be a good father. However, it wasn’t easy. All day long, his job involved fighting criminals and examining photos of dead bodies. Being a profiler was a lonelier way to earn a living than one might think. When an unexpected tragedy struck his family, he was neither a good husband nor a good father. Ironically, it was Tae Soo’s “suspicion” that became the problem.
Chae Won Bin as Jang Ha Bin
Second-year high school student, Jang Tae Soo’s daughter, who lies as easily as she studies.
Life has become boring since my mother died. At this time, when I’m making the most important plans of my life, the biggest obstacle is my dad. It’s a lie that I’m good at studying. My father doesn’t understand. If Dad continues doesn’t, I have no choice but to carry on. I become more of a liar, hiding in the darkness, and now there is no turning back. My plan is perfect.
Oh Yeon Soo as Yun Ji Su
Ha Bin’s mother and Jang Tae Soo’s ex-wife.
Unable to overcome her past family tragedy, she parted ways with Tae Soo. She believed that it was best to separate her daughter from her husband. But as she raised Habin alone, she began to think that maybe…, she was wrong. Although she didn’t show it to her daughter, her heart slowly broke. She often told herself that her daughter was just a little different. If she tried harder, everything would be better. But a year ago, she passed away.
Han Ye Ri as Lee Yeo Jin
Member of Crime Behavior Analysis Team. Facts over emotions, cases over people.
People around her were worried whether she could stand the pressure among the tough detectives of the Gisen Violent Crimes Unit, but it was completely groundless. She doesn’t flinch at the dirty jokes of sex offenders, and when she wants information, she has to get an answer somehow to feel satisfied. She is skilled but is considered unlucky. She welcomes all-night discussions for work, yet struggles with even small talk for five minutes. However, these days, she enjoys going to work. After all, her superior is Jang Tae Soo, whom she has always respected!
Noh Jae Won as Koo Dae Hong
Member of Crime Behavior Analysis Team. Warm character and excellent empathy.
He often feels teary-eyed as he listens to the twisted life stories of criminals. Daehong is someone who finds it easier to understand people than to hate them. Since childhood, he never once dreamed of becoming a police officer. That winter, just before he was about to graduate from graduate school, an event occurred and changed his life. Although his personality and appearance did not match those of a typical policeman, he became one anyway.
Yoon Gyung Ho as O Jeong Hwan
Team Leader of the Powerful Team. The core of the police force is the detective!
He doesn’t consider former athletes, people who ruin the team atmosphere, tradition breakers, and those who leave work early to be colleagues. He is the complete opposite of Tae Soo, who embodies all these traits. As a father of three, he finds it disrespectful that Tae Soo always makes excuses to skip company dinners, claiming he has to pick up his daughter. He takes good care of his team, but once he perceives someone as an enemy, he tends to nitpick and often clashes with Tae Soo.
