The Shameful Act of Violence of Korean “Daeris” at the 2024 Golden Disc Awards (GDA) Jakarta
On January 6, the Kpop community celebrated one of its most prestigious awards the 2024 Golden Disc Awards (GDA), held at the Jakarta International Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Honoring the best projects and performances in the Kpop industry, the 2024 Golden Disc Awards (GDA) Jakarta featured a stunning performer lineup, including Stray Kids, NewJeans, ENHYPEN, STAYC, LE SSERAFIM, and more.
Not only that, but this award has also honored many industry talents, including NewJeans, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids, ADOR’s Min Hee Jin, and even FIFTY FIFTY Keena. Thanks to the professionalism of the hosts, ASTRO Cha Eun Woo and Sung Si Kyung, in collaboration with all the crews, performers, officials, and everyone involved, the ceremonial event went smoothly.
Unfortunately, a totally opposite situation occurred on the other side of the stage.
While the idols performed their impressive, powerful routines and acceptance speech, the audience must suffer unexpected behaviors that were incredibly offensive and violent. These insanely offensive behaviors and violence occurred against the local officials and staff at the 2024 Golden Disc Awards (GDA) Jakarta.
And the people responsible for this shameful act of violence were Korean fansites and daeris who entered the venue by violating rules and regulations.
What REALLY Happened? Here’s the Full Story
On January 7, several posts emerged from audiences who attended the 2024 Golden Disc Awards (GDA) in Jakarta. Twitter (now X) was full of photos and videos of several perpetrators going wildly offensive and violent, screaming and cursing everyone at the venue.
According to several witnesses, it all started when several Korean citizens entered the venue carrying large cameras. Apparently, carrying large cameras was against the rules and regulations of the 2024 Golden Disc Awards (GDA) Jakarta, just as it is generally in Kpop events. Therefore, the local officials and security apprehended these rule breakers and asked them to hand over their large cameras.
Apparently, these Korean citizens turned out to be unauthorized Korean daeris. It is a term in Kpop referring to the non-fan who illegally sells pictures they took by breaking the rules to the idols’ fansites and fans in general.
It Became More Chaotic
However, everything went chaotic when these Korean daeris went mad at the local officials and security. They began shouting and screaming at these local officials. And when the audience starts to capture and call out their behaviors, they curse everyone, screaming “shib*l saekki (시발새끼),” an extremely offensive term, while raising their middle fingers at everyone present.

But the worst incident was when violence started at the 2024 Golden Disc Awards (GDA) in Jakarta. One of these Korean daeris was so furious at the local official that he pulled the official and slammed him to the ground.

The local citizens also found the usernames and Twitter accounts of these Korean daeris. They are mostly fansites and daeris of LE SSERAFIM Chaewon and Yunjin, IVE Liz, and aespa Winter. Netizens also reported that they played victim while attracting the idols’ attention as if blaming Indonesian citizens during the incident.
Therefore, local citizens then flooded the accounts with criticism, asking for sincere apologies from all the perpetrators involved.
Apparently, these fansites and daeris have been famous even in South Korea, and some Korean fans also recognize their faces. The perpetrators have a long history of disrespectful behaviors, even in their own home country.

One of the Perpetrators Posted an Apology Post in Bahasa Indonesia
After his face went viral, one of the violence perpetrators at the 2024 Golden Disc Awards (GDA) in Jakarta posted an apology statement. He even used Bahasa Indonesia, which is the native Indonesian language.
However, this apology did not seem to be enough since many of the perpetrators did not apologize for their violence at the 2024 Golden Disc Awards (GDA) Jakarta. Therefore, local citizens asked the officials that officers would arrest the perpetrators and eventually deport them and ban them from the country.
Jangan salah…

“Hello, I apologize for coming to Indonesia and causing a disturbance. Even though there were many misunderstandings, not everything was captured in the video. I like and respect Indonesia. I have never said anything insulting about Indonesia. Please do not misunderstand. But because I was obsessed with anger, emotion, and yelling, I admit that it was all my fault, and I sincerely apologize.
Once again, I apologize and promise to take all of this into consideration. I apologize for offending and disrupting the event, especially to the Indonesian community present at the GDA event yesterday. I will make sure that this does not happen again.
Once again, I apologize and ask for your understanding. Thank you.”
