Woo Do Hwan Faces Controversy for Now-Deleted Video with WJSN Bona
Actor Woo Do Hwan and his new drama with WJSN Bona face another controversy!
After previously facing massive criticism for using inappropriate publicity stunts for new drama promotion, the controversy now revolves around the main actor, Woo Do Hwan, himself.
Wikitree reported on May 21 that Woo Do Hwan had faced massive criticism for a video he posted on Instagram. The video immediately went viral on South Korea’s online communities since it showed what they believed to be a skinship that is too intimate between Woo Do Hwan and WJSN Bona while filming their new drama.
Due to this video, South Korean netizens began criticizing actor Woo Do Hwan. They demanded that he delete the video because they believed it was too inappropriate.
An Intimate Skinship for a Scene in New Drama
So, what really happened in the deleted video controversy of Woo Do Hwan and WJSN Bona?
On May 20, actor Woo Do Hwan uploaded an Instagram post and expressed his gratitude towards the staff, co-stars, and fans for the success of his new drama, Joseon Attorney. He stated that all the people involved in the drama production had given him the strength to return after 3 years. At the same time, he thanked the audience for giving him endless support.
“Thank you very much for loving Joseon Attorney.
I was anxious for my return after 3 years. But all the amazing actors, director, and hardworking staff gave me tremendous strength. Thank you for loving someone with flaws like me.”

A Kiss on the Ear
Along with the message, Woo Do Hwan also posted a now-deleted director’s cut video of him and WJSN Bona characters in the new drama.
In the now-deleted video, characters portrayed by Woo Do Hwan and WJSN Bona were spooning and cuddling in bed. They seemed to have so much fun spending time with each other.
Just like ordinary couples, both actors were giggling and joking during the characters’ cuddling scene. Woo Do Hwan also kissed WJSN Bona on her right ear and behind to make the scene more natural and romantic.
However, apparently, South Korean netizens believed that such an intimate scene was too inappropriate.
Fans of WJSN Bona began bombarding the video with malicious comments against Woo Do Hwan. They repeatedly asked why Woo Do Hwan would post the video while the director himself decided to remove the scene. Then, the fans demanded he delete the footage from his post.
However, Korean drama fans defended Woo Do Hwan. They didn’t understand why Bona’s fans would make such unnecessary issues about a video that was supposed to be a drama scene. It was not real. Therefore, they believed that these complaints were too exaggerated.
Agency of Woo Do Hwan Apologized for the New Drama Deleted Video with Bona
Following the controversy against the deleted video with WJSN Bona, Woo Do Hwan’s agency decided to post an official statement.
In the statement, KeyEast agency shared that Woo Do Hwan posted the video without ill intentions. The actor assumed fans of his new drama Joseon Attorney would love to see more interactions between the main characters. Therefore, after asking for permissions from those involved, he posted the video on his Instagram.
“Actor Woo Do Hwan posted the video believing those who love the drama would want to see the main characters live happily until the end.
So, he posted the video after consulting with the production team, director, and the other actor in advance. Without their agreement, it would be impossible even to possess the footage of the undisclosed scene.
Actor Woo Do Hwan uploaded the video for the fans. But since many people were uncomfortable with the video, he decided to delete it.”

Was it REALLY Inappropriate?
Finally, even after the official apology from Woo Do Hwan agency, the general public still discussed his deleted video with WJSN Bona. However, this time, more people came to Woo Do Hwan’s defense.
On May 22, Sports Seoul reported that the controversy surrounding Woo Do Hwan and Bona’s new drama deleted video was simply an overreaction from Bona’s fans.
Firstly, the video contained no adult contents. There was not even a deep level of skinship in the scene. And finally, it was merely an overreaction from fans who were overprotective of Bona.
Therefore, industry insiders were surprised and embarrassed that some fans reacted too excessively to the scene. That is especially true when WJSN Bona is currently building up her filmography as a leading actress, not an idol.
But what about you? Do you think the video was too much? Or was it just enough to show how affectionate the two Joseon Attorney main characters had been? Seriously? If this is what Koreans consider inappropriate, it's no wonder Korea's birth rate is so low. Why do her fans think they have to ''protect'' her? She's in her late 20s, hardly a child. If she thought the scene was inappropriate, why didn't she discuss it with the director, or simply refuse to do it?
