The HIPHOP / R&B-inspired girl group, XG, has just released another track, “TGIF,” before their “New DNA” album release. In addition to releasing pre-release tracks, XG has a full schedule with major international music festivals, like Head in The Clouds LA, KCON LA, “F1 Singapore Fes,” and more.
XG Packed Schedule Prior to Their “New DNA” Album Release
XG Released New Trippy Track “TGIF”
On August 4, XG released their second pre-release track and music video for “TGIF,” taken from their upcoming 1st Mini Album “NEW DNA.”
TGIF stands for “Thank God I’m Fly,” reflecting XG’s message of embracing individuality. The song is characterized by its pounding bass and dynamic percussion in the chorus, resulting in a distinctive, powerful, and energetic song.
The music video for “TGIF” continues XG’s “evolution” narrative from their prior track “GRL GVNG,” where the group is shown arriving from space. The theme of this video is “expansion.” The video uses creative effects, 3D graphics, and the natural moments of the girls, resulting in a fun yet high-end production.
The highlight of “TGIF,” is undoubtedly the chorus, which calls out the title.
“VVS’s got nothing on me
Want it, got it, flaunt it, I am queen
Pleased with blessings, look at my body
Wake up, look up in the mirror
T-G-I-F,”
The choreography here features relaxed dance moves and hand movements in a surprising and inspiring way.
Additionally, On August 8, XG shared a collaboration dance video with YOASOBI’s Lilas Ikuta on their social channels. The video was posted to Tiktok and Instagram and featured Jurin, Chisa, and Cocona, along with Lilas, dancing to XG’s “TGIF.” The video was recorded at the LA Head in the Clouds festival, where both XG and Yoasobi performed to huge crowds.

Moreover, XG’s eagerly awaited 1st Mini Album, “NEW DNA,” is set to release on September 27. The world is waiting to see the next evolution of XG.
XG to Perform at Major Music Festivals Overseas
After burning the stage at “Head In The Clouds” in New York, XG once again proved their amazing stage performance. On August 6, XG took the stage at the “Head In The Clouds New York Music & Arts Festival” in LA, an event hosted by 88rising at the Rose Bowl Stadium.
Head In The Clouds is a large-scale music festival since 2018, held in New York, Jakarta, Manila, and Guangzhou. In addition to XG, 37 artists, including YOASOBI, JACKSON WANG, ZEDD, RINA SAWAYAMA, and NIKI, performed at the LA show.
All members of XG wore LA-inspired cowboy hats and walked out from behind the festival’s giant LED screen to loud cheers from the audience. XG performed the tracks “LEFT RIGHT” and “SHOOTING STAR” with a united audience singing along. The girls closed a phenomenal performance with their latest song, “TGIF,” taken from their 1st Mini Album, “NEW DNA.”
XG is also slated to perform at several other major festivals, including “KCON LA 2023,” “TGC 2023 A/W,” “88 DEGREES & RISING IN JAKARTA,” “F1 Singapore Fes,” and “Hyperound,” to be held in Abu Dhabi.
