Date and Venue of MMA 2023
The 2023 Melon Music Awards (MMA) will be held at the new INSPIRE Arena in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, on December 2. The INSPIRE Arena is a brand-new venue that is designed specifically for K-pop events. It is exhilarating because it will be the first arena solely dedicated to K-pop, with a seating capacity of 15,000 people. So, there will be plenty of space for fans to come and enjoy their favorite artists’ performances.
This year’s MMA slogan is “K-Pop Changes the World.” The slogan carries a powerful message about the impact and influence of K-pop music, as music has the power to unite people and spread positivity. The Melon Music Awards 2023 aims to showcase the strength and transformative power of K-pop music and how it can break down barriers and connect people from all around the world. Voting
Melon has introduced a new awards category called the Millions Top 10 Awards. These awards will be given to albums that achieve more than 1 million streams on Melon within the first 24 hours of their release. The winners will be determined using a combination of Melon download and streaming counts (80%) and votes (20%).
In addition to the Millions Top 10 awards, Melon has also opened voting for various other categories, such as Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Song of the Year. The determination process for these awards will be based on a formula consisting of Melon download and streaming counts (60%), judges’ evaluations (20%), and votes (20%).
There are also exceptions to the usual formula for specific awards. The Best Music Style award will be determined based on Melon download and streaming counts (20%), judges’ evaluations (60%), and votes (20%). Similarly, the Kakao Bank Favorite Star Award will be assessed based on judges’ evaluations (20%) and votes (80%).
However, some awards, like Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year, will not include online voting. Instead, these awards will be determined entirely based on judges’ evaluations.
The voting period for Melon users with verified accounts will be available until December 1. The announcement of the winners will take place at the Melon Music Awards on December 2 at 5 p.m. KST.
