One of the main reasons Korean dramas are top-rated is the magnificence of the lead roles, filled with rich emotions and personalities. Today we’re going to talk about female characters in Korean drama who are so strong and savage we all know we would NEVER want to mess with them. Why? Because if we do, we WILL just lose miserably.
Characteristics of Female Lead Roles in Korean Dramas
If you’re a loyal fan of Korean drama, then you must have realized that at some point, most female characters circle around several common traits and personalities.
The first type is the jolly ones. They are so cheerful and kindhearted that they keep smiling despite all the challenges they face. For instance, we have cheerful Do Bong Soon (Strong Woman Do Bong Soon), Chae Young Shin (Healer), Tak Dong Kyung (Doom at Your Service), and Yoon Seri (Crash Landing on You).
On the other hand, we have the super strong will that no matter what happens, these female characters will just keep doing what they have in mind, just like Hae Soo(Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo), Gil Ra Im (Secret Garden), and Tae Gong Shil (Master’s Sun).
However, there are notable exceptions of female lead characters in Korean drama who are just too strong and savage. That is why no way we would want to mess with them. Because if we do, well, we’ll have to prepare ourselves to suffer a tragic defeat.
Strong and Savage Female Lead Characters in Korean Drama We Do NOT Want to Mess
1. Jang Man Wol – Hotel del Luna
Who wants to mess with an immortal who’s been living for thousands of years?! Played by IU (Lee Ji Eun), Jang Man Wol is the owner of Hotel del Luna, a ghost hotel responsible for tending the needs of wandering spirits. She was condemned to be the mystic hotel owner for centuries due to her past sin of committing a massacre.
On top of that, Jang Man Wol has no fear. She’s powerful, wealthy, bad-tempered, and worst of everything, she’s immortal. Now, would you dare messing around with such a person?
2. Hong Ji Ah – Sell Your Haunted House
Secondly, even though she may not be an immortal like Jang Man Wol, you definitely don’t want to mess with Hong Ji Ah, played by Jang Na Ra, from “Sell Your Haunted House”.
Hong Ji Ah is the owner of Daebak Real Estate, who only manages the sales of houses with special cases: haunted. She’s cold-blooded, bad-tempered, and has an unyielding will. Better yet, she has one special guardian on her side who keeps protecting her no matter where she is: the ghost of her dead mother. So if you dare messing with her, not only will she teach you a lesson, her mother’s ghost will give you a taste of her terrifying mystic power.
So, do you dare to challenge Hong Ji Ah?
3. Ko Moon Young – It’s Okay to Not Be Okay
The third strong savage female lead character in Korean dramas you don’t want to mess with is Ko Moon Young from “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay”, played by Seo Ye Ji.
Ko Moon Young is an author or children’s book with extremely peculiar traits and personalities. She was born and living like a princess to an over-protective mother. Therefore, it resulted in her developing an antisocial personality disorder. That is why Ko Moon Young is exceptionally straightforward to the point of being rude to everyone. Besides, she’s wealthy and powerful, and she’s not afraid or embarrassed by anything happening due to her actions.
Indeed, she may not have supernatural power like Jang Man Wol or Hong Ji Ah. However, try messing with her, and there’s a chance you might pee in your pants by her verbal attacks and swear words.
4. Jo Yi Seo – Itaewon Class
Played by Kim Da Mi, Jo Yi Seo of “Itaewon Class” will be one of strong savage female lead characters of Korean drama you do NOT want to mess with.

Yes, Jo Yi Seo may seem cute and likable on the outside. After all, her sweet and adorable smile will indeed lead you to believe that she’s just a lovely little girl. However, never judge a book by its cover, especially when it comes to this girl.
Jo Yi Seo is a clever and brilliant young girl who twists the idea of a strong female lead character in Korean drama. Despite her intelligence, Jo Yi Seo does not believe in right or wrong. As long as it serves her purpose, she’s willing to do anything and use her brilliant minds in twisted ways, including manipulation, façade, and trickery. After all, she doesn’t mind getting her hand dirty to fulfill her ambitions.
Therefore, try messing and interfering with her ambitions, and you will suddenly realize that you’ve fallen right into her schemes.
5. Kang Sae Byeok – Squid Game
Finally, the last character you do NOT want to mess with is Kang Sae Byeok from “Squid Game” , played by Jung Heo Yeon.

One of the “Squid Game” participants, Kang Sae Byeok (no. 067), remains one of strong and savage female lead characters in Korean dramas with whom we do NOT want to get on the bad side. Known for her excellent survival skill and the ability to sneak away easily, Kang Sae Byeok is abrupt and brilliant, with no fear of anything. Because at the end of the day, despite her strong compassion, she would undoubtedly use her wits and intelligence to fight for her goal, especially when it comes to family.
Therefore, no matter what you do to defeat her, she would be able to rise again and fight you back multiple times until you give in.
