If you think that the “Squid Game” era has passed, then you’re completely wrong! Netflix “Squid Game” has acquired a BIG win at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards. They have also become the FIRST Korean drama to take home the Gotham Awards. However, the show’s achievement does NOT just end there.
On December 9 local time, the American Film Institute announced the list of honorees that had won the 2021 AFI Award for outstanding films and TV programs. The list includes 10 film titles and 10 TV programs that they had deemed “culturally and artistically representative,” among the wonderful achievements for the art of moving images in 2021.

List of Prominent Titles in the 2021 AFI Award List of Honorees
Furthermore, the American Film Institute has listed prominent titles for this year’s honorees. They had selected 10 American films and 10 TV programs with the most impressive screen stories. Among these titles include “Dune”, “King Richard”, “The Tragedy of Macbeth”, “West Side Story”, “WANDAVISION”, “HACKS”, and “MAID”.
These selected titles have gone through strict jury process reviews from AFI Trustees, critics, artists, as well as film scholars who had provided artistic and cultural contexts for each honoree’s selection.

As a matter of fact, the 2021 American Film Institute (AFI) Award has given Netflix “Squid Game” a special recognition apart from the main categories. This particular category is called the “Special Award.” And they give this award to honor the masterpieces outside the main awards criteria.
