“Snowdrop” Will NOT Be Canceled Following Seoul Court Decision

After an extensive and complex issue revolving around the Korean drama “Snowdrop” starring Jisoo and Jung Hae In, JTBC has confirmed that “Snowdrop” will NOT be canceled, especially after the Seoul court has carried out their decisions.

On December 29, the Seoul District Court ruled in favor of the JTBC drama “Snowdrop” in a case and injunction by a civic group. Therefore, it means that “Snowdrop” will not be canceled and continue airing.

Petitions and Civic Group Injunction Request Against JTBC “Snowdrop”

Starting from its very first premiere, “Snowdrop” has received various backlash regarding the issue of historical distortion. More than 300,000 citizens have signed a petition to the Blue House, demanding to take “Snowdrop” off the air and be canceled.

Following the petition, a civic group called “Declaration of Global Citizens in Korea” filed an injunction request against “Snowdrop” company, JTBC, to the Seoul court on December 22. They demanded the company to take down and cancel “Snowdrop”.

Seoul District Court: “It’s Difficult to Argue that The Drama Infringes on the Rights”

Although the Blue House has yet responded to the petition, the Seoul District court decided reject the injunction request. The court believed even if it’s true that “Snowdrop” has distorted history, it has a low probability of the public accepting the drama’s inaccuracies blindly.

“Snowdrop” is NOT Canceled and JTBC Will Take Legal Actions Against Malicious Comments

JTBC Official Statement about “Snowdrop” Legal Actions Against Malicious Comments

“JTBC is currently suffering severe damages due to the spread of false and malicious comments regarding ‘Snowdrop’ drama. Therefore, to protect the broadcasting station’s image and the image of the drama’s creators as well as the rights of creative content, we plan to proceed with strict legal action from now on.
