COVID-19 Hit on Kpop Industry in the First Month of 2022
Bridg3 Confirmed Hyolyn Tested Positive for COVID-19
Bridg3 confirmed that singer Hyolyn tested positive for COVID-19 on January 27. Hyolyn previously appeared on the show ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook.’ While waiting for the record, Hyolyn was notified as close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case from the ‘Double Trouble.’
“Hello, this is Bridg3. Our artist Hyolyn, who was waiting to record for the KBS TV program, ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,’ was notified that she was in close contact with a confirmed case from the show program ‘Double Trouble.’ She immediately stopped all schedules and conducted a PCR test. Unfortunately, on January 26 KST, she received positive test results for COVID-19, while the staff members tested negative. In response, Hyolyn has canceled all schedules and is taking the necessary measures needed according to the guidelines of the quarantine authorities.
Although she received the second dose of vaccinations, she still resulted in a positive test. Prior to the recording of ‘Double Trouble’ on Sunday, she received a negative result and participated in the recording of the show. She also received a negative result using a self-diagnosis kit before coming to the recording for ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook.’ She, however, received news of being a close contact while waiting to record for the show and immediately stopped all schedules.
The agency will strictly comply with the guidelines of the quarantine authorities and do its best for the health and safety of its artists. In addition, we apologize for causing concern to the fans and officials. We will greet you with a good image by recovering as soon as possible. Thank you.”
Kep1er Kim Chaehyun and Seo Youngeun Tested Positive for COVID-19
Wake One and Swing Entertainment announced that Kep1er members Kim Chaehyun and Seo Youngeun confirmed positive for COVID-19. Both idols have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Unfortunately, Chaehyun and Youngeun showed mild symptoms and tested positive.
The other Kep1er members took the preemptive test and showed negative results. “The rest of the members also got tested and came back as negative. They are also not showing any symptoms of the virus,” Wake One and Swing Entertainment stated.
Due to the condition, Wake One and Swing Entertainment decided to halt all the activities for Kep1er and focus on the health of Kep1er members and staff.
Weeekly Lee Jaehee Tested Positive for COVID-19
On January 27, IST Entertainment also confirmed that one more artist got infected by the coronavirus. The agency notified one of the Weeekly members, Monday, attended ‘Double Trouble,’ where there was a confirmed case. Therefore, Monday and all the girls and their staff took PCR tests, which came back with negative results.
However, Monday and Lee Jaehee didn’t feel well afterward. So they retook the PCR tests, and on January 27, Monday got a negative result, but Jaehee tested positive for COVID-19.
“We will be testing again all the members and staff who initially tested negative. We apologize for causing concern during a time when everyone is suffering due to COVID-19. We will actively follow the measures of the disease control authorities and do our best so our artists can quickly recover their health.”
