Why IU Always Makes Meaningful Donations on Her Birthday

Since her debut, IU has made several donations to those in need. Turning 30 (Korean age), IU, the donation fairy, continues the tradition of making meaningful donations on her birthday.

IU is an excellent example and an icon of positive influence so that fans dubbed her as “Donation Fairy” and “Best Girl.” Every year, IU makes annual donations on her birthday and special occasions under “IUAENA,” the combination of her name and her fandom name.

Previously, in 2020, IU celebrated her birthday by donating 51.6 million Won to Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation & another 51.6 million Won to ‘Children Walking Together’ social welfare institute.

And in 2021, the successful idol-actress marked her last 20s birthday (Korean age) by donating 500 million Won (approximately $439,753). The donations were sent to several charity organizations, including the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation, the Korean Unwed Mothers’ Families Association, the Purme Foundation, and Yeouldol, supporting children with rare diseases.

Not only on her birthday every year, but IU also makes heartwarming donations every time she gets a chance. For example, ahead of Christmas day last year, IU donated 200 million Won (approximately $168,560) to ChildFund Korea (the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation).

Why IU always makes meaningful donations on her birthday

This year, turning 30 (Korean age), IU continues making heartwarming donations on her birthday. On May 16, EDAM Entertainment shared that IU made a total of 210 million Won (approximately $163,516) donation to The Snail of Love, Korean Unwed Mothers’ Families Association, Eden I Ville, and the social welfare foundation Changinwon.

The kind-hearted fairy wants to spend a meaningful birthday every year by sharing and sending love to those in need. By donating in the name of “IUAENA,” she wishes that her fans, UAENA, could also feel and share the warmth.

EDAM Entertainment, on behalf of IU, shared receipts of the donation with a message:

“Birthdays come every year, but we want to spread the warmth this year as well with UAENA.

We hope that this May can be a cozy one for all those pushing forward underneath the warm spring sunshine as well as those taking a brief break in the shade.

And of course, to our UAENA, who are celebrating with happy hearts more than anyone else, thank you always!”
