“Money Game”: a Webtoon Adaptation Drama with Highly-Anticipated Release Date
Based on two best-sellers of author Bae Jin Soo, “Money Game” and “Pie Game”, the viewers have been highly anticipating this new IU drama due to its promising storyline.
IU “Money Game” drama will be telling the stories about a survival game involving 100 people sharing a prize of 38 million USD. The amount of money they get will depend on how many people are left participating in the game. The fewer people remain, the more money you take home.
Indeed, you may think that “Money Game” would be similar to Netflix blockbuster, “Squid Game”. However, most people believe that if the drama follows the original storyline of the webtoon, “Money Game” will be far nastier than “Squid Game”.
The COMPLETE Reason for IU Leaving “Money Game”
So, if “Money Game” drama is truly that interesting, why did IU decide to leave the cast lineup?
Apparently, IU decided to let go of her role in the “Money Game” drama cast and its promising release date due to a conflict in her schedule.
First of all, the promotional activities of IU latest movie, “Broker,” is still ongoing. In fact, she recently made a stunning appearance with “Broker” cast and director at the “75th Cannes Film Festival”, in which she became a strong candidate for Best Actress.
At the same time, IU is currently working on her movie project with Park Seo Joon, “Dream”. The movie is currently in the filming process, and both the actors even went overseas to shoot some of its important scenes.
And even during these two ongoing projects, as Korea’s most successful female soloist, IU had been preparing to hold another concert this year. Previously, IU had to cancel her upcoming concert due to the spiking number of COVID-19. However, now that the pandemic has significantly decreased, there’s a chance that IU’s 2022 concert will be back on schedule.
These are the reasons why IU decided to leave the “Money Game” drama cast despite its highly anticipated release date.
Actress Chun Woo Hee to Replace IU
Following the reports of IU leaving “Money Game” drama cast, Studio N also announced that actress Chun Woo Hee would be the one replacing her.
In the world of Korean drama, Chun Woo Hee might have only a few projects on her list, including “Be Melodramatic” and “Argon”. However, Chun Woo Hee is a prominent actress with stellar reputation in the movie industry, starring in over 20 films. Therefore, her striking appearance as one of “Money Game” drama cast members is one performance we cannot miss!
