Following the enlistment of BTS vocalist and eldest hyung Jin, rumors circulated that SUGA would be conducting his military service as a social worker. But is it really true? Check out the following report for the complete explanations and statements from BIGHIT MUSIC.
BTS SUGA Will Reportedly Complete Military Service Enlistment as Social Worker
BTS Jin has officially entered the military base for his mandatory service. That is why the public attention has shifted to BTS genius producer and rapper Min Yoongi (SUGA), who will reportedly complete his military service enlistment as a social worker. Rumors said that SUGA will be the only BTS member exempted from active military duty.
On December 13, military authorities stated to Daily Sports that it is possible for SUGA to complete his military service enlistment as a social worker and work in the government office.
BTS SUGA has postponed his mandatory military service enlistment until 2023. However, reports mentioned that he would most likely become the next member who enlists after Jin.
What is the Reason?
Korean media further reported that the reason behind SUGA serving as a social worker is due to his medical history.
In November 2020, BTS SUGA ruptured the labrum in the left shoulder area. This injury required him to undergo surgery and a strict recovery process.
Due to this injury, SUGA has received approval to serve as a social worker instead of active duty. After all, in South Korea, men who have suffered a certain level of health issues are subject to exemption from active duty. Therefore, BTS SUGA will also be eligible to complete his military service enlistment as a social service agent.
If this is true, then SUGA may possibly be working at community centers or other city/provincial organizations.

BTS SUGA Can Still Serve on Active Duty
Indeed, it is a fact that BTS SUGA received major surgery on his shoulder in 2020. And it is also a fact that men who experience a certain level of health conditions are likely to be excluded from active-duty military service.
However, according to government officials, even if they had already considered him eligible to complete military enlistment as a social worker, SUGA would still be able to go to active duty if that is his wish.
“Even if you are deemed eligible to serve as a social service worker, you can go to active duty if you wish to serve in active duty.”
