Kpop Group BABYMONSTER Gains Over 1 Million YouTube Subscribers Even Before Debut
It’s only been a few weeks since the YouTube channel was officially available, but YG new girl group BABYMONSTER has gained over 1 million subscribers.
Moreover, it is such a worthy achievement since the surge of subscribers occurred even before the group’s official debut.
YG Entertainment reported via Star News on February 18 that on the same day when the clock hit 00.18, BABYMONSTER YouTube subscribers had reached 1 million. The channel was created on December 28 last year to prepare for the group’s debut. So, it takes only 52 days for the YG new girl group to gain such surprisingly massive attention from the public.
The Promising Fame and Future of YG New Girl Group
For the last couple of years, YG has been teasing fans with continuous promises of a powerful new girl group. The company sprinkled mentions and praises of their promising monster rookie, promising that it will be one of the most powerful monster rookies with members’ quality that are the same as 7 BLACKPINK Jennies.
Currently, there are 7 members of YG new girl group BABYMONSTER. They are Ahyeon, Haram, Rora (Korean), Pharita and Chiquita (Thai), as well as Ruka and Asa (Japanese)
From January 1, YG Entertainment started posting various teasers of their new girl group. Every week, the company continued revealing glimpses of BABYMONSTER members in preparation for their upcoming debut.
The company released introduction videos, profiles, and footage of the members’ training progress. On top of that, YG also invited fans to get to know more of the members’ personalities and their adorable daily life activities.
Surprisingly, the result was unprecedentedly satisfying. BABYMONSTER’s video showcase has now surpassed 140 million cumulative views from YG and their YouTube channels.
Since the hype and promise of YG new girl group have been going viral for a couple of years, the public’s anticipation has indeed skyrocketed. After all, it has been 7 years since YG released a new girl group. And the last time they did, YG produced a spectacular masterpiece: BLACKPINK.
BABYMONSTER: The End of BLACKPINK Era?
Meanwhile, since BABYMONSTER showcased such a promising future and fame, many industry insiders believed that YG new girl group could indicate the end of the BLACKPINK era.
Sports World previously forecasted that the new group might become one of the reasons BLACKPINK will leave YG if not disbanded.
According to the report, the new era of Kpop girl groups features an average age of 18.3 years (NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM, IVE), and BLACKPINK’s average age has now reached 26.3 years old. Also, BABYMONSTER was one of the suspected reasons for BLACKPINK’s overdue comeback before. Finally, and most importantly, BLACKPINK members are now more successful with their brand and image as solo artists.
Therefore, with the skyrocketing hype of kpop group BABYMONSTER’s upcoming debut, many believe that BLACKPINK’s era as a group is probably ending. YG new girl group BABYMONSTER envisions the possibility that BLACKPINK will not survive the 7-year curse.
