According to Lee Sung Kyung, her relationship with Kim Young Kwang was of a close friend for a long time. Both actors started as models, so they went way back with a long history even before starting their acting professions.
Due to this history, their relationship was basically of childhood friends full of hilarious jokes. That is why Kim Young Kwang even had to avoid Lee Sung Kyung at the start of Call It Love drama filming so he could better immerse himself in his role.
“We’ve been very close since we were young, so we had that playful mood around each other. But since the relationship is different in the drama, Kim Young Kwang said he avoided me a lot in the beginning so he could focus.
I always started our meetings with jokes, so I tried to hold back. And when oppa avoided me, I tried not to follow him and focus on my character instead.”

However, Lee Sung Kyung believed the director said that on purpose, to elevate their pride and give them strength to perform better. In fact, Lee Sung Kyung revealed that Call It Love on-set drama teams often complained and requested them to remain Shim Woo Joo and Han Dong Jin. Why? Because their actual selves only break everyone’s immersion.
“People on set teased us, saying they just wanted to see Dong Jin and Woo Joo. They no longer wanted to see our true selves because it was going to break everyone’s immersion.”

But at the end of the day, Lee Sung Kyung felt happy that the rumor appeared. It means that they have successfully created good chemistry between Shim Woo Joo and Han Dong Jin.
