On May 9, Wikitree reported that JTBC’s Korean drama Doctor Cha had been receiving a massive wave of criticisms.

According to the report, these criticisms came from patients with Crohn’s disease and their respective families. These patients and their family members were furious because Doctor Cha had been allegedly spreading false facts and statements that had the potential of harming the mental stability of Crohn’s disease patients.

The controversy began in Episode 7, where Doctor Cha portrayed a case of a patient with Crohn’s disease. It is a disease where a possible chronic inflammation may occur throughout the digestive system. The inflammation may happen in different parts of a person’s digestive system, from mouth to anus, depending on the degree of severity of the disease.

In Episode 7 of Doctor Cha, the patient was about to undergo a restoration surgery to repair his anus. And at the time, his family members went to him and harshly complained to the patient. They criticized the patient for not informing the family members about the disease. And that was mainly because the family was worried since the disease can be hereditary.

Due to these harsh remarks from his family, the patient lost his confidence and attempted suicide by jumping off the hospital’s rooftop.
