Let’s go back a bit to when Big Hit was first established. Big Hit Entertainment was first founded in 2005. And it is not a secret that BTS, one of Kpop groups under Big Hit, has pulled Big Hit out of bankruptcy.
Today, 16 years after the establishment, Big Hit has multiple subsidiaries, including Source Music, Pledis Entertainment, Belift Lab, and KOZ Entertainment, known as Big Hit Labels. As reported, Big Hit is also teaming up with Kiswe Mobile, Naver, and Universal Music, as well as investing in AI Audio Technology Company, Supertone.
Why Big Hit change to HYBE?
According to reports on March 10, the official company name of Big Hit Entertainment will be changed to HYBE Corporation. The company head, Bang Si Hyuk, stated, “We’ll become the world’s leading entertainment and lifestyle platform company. By removing ‘entertainment,’ we’ll have a new, comprehensive image as a general content group, which is our mission.”
As stated in AllKpop, HYBE will also oversee real estate by renting out practice rooms and other spaces for their subsidiary companies and affiliates alongside music production, performance, management, and internet business. They will hold the general shareholder’s meeting for changing Big Hit Entertainment to HYBE Corporation on March 30 KST.
