“Queen of Kpop” Kwon BoA Hints at Retirement Plan After Contract Ends
Have you ever imagined stanning someone for over two decades and finding out that they might be going away soon? That is exactly what happened to fans of Kpop Queen Kwon BoA right now.
On April 6, Kwon BoA uploaded a post on her IG Story that gained massive attention from global Kpop fans.
In the post, BoA originally typed something that caused confusion because the post mentioned “은퇴 (eun-twae)” or “retire”, and yet it read “운퇴 (woon-twae)”, something that does not really exist in the Korean dictionary.
“After the contract ends, I can just retire, right?”
BoA.
Due to this post, some fans believed that the Kpop Queen Kwon BoA had really expressed her intention of retirement after her contract with SM Entertainment ended. Yet, some fans tried to deny the speculations, saying that BoA was only quitting her gym membership. After all, the word “woontae” was said to be slang for “quitting the gym” or “leaving workouts.”
Unfortunately, this speculation was proven false. The Kpop Queen, Kwon BoA did express her retirement wish once her contract ended.
Immediately after the post went viral, the legendary soloist posted another IG Story. This time, she did clarify that she really meant “retirement” in the previous post.
“Apparently, I misspelled a word. I did mean retire.”

All the Hate Against Kpop Queen Kwon BoA: Do They Push Her to Retirement Once the Contract Ends?
BoA’s sudden hints had truly brought us an immense shock. Will we really lose the legendary Kpop queen? After all, she had indeed received so much hate and criticism recently.
Previously, Korean netizens criticized BoA’s acting as Oh Yu Ra in “Marry My Husband” Korean drama. Netizens accused her acting performance of being stiff and awkward on top of its lack of fitting the whole storyline. This criticism was so severe that even the main cast, Park Min Young, had to defend her in an interview.
“I’m not picking sides or anything, but I feel it’s tough for anyone to hop into a drama already in progress. Even experienced actors find it challenging, especially if the show is well-loved.
She stepped into a role that was both demanding and complex, and I’m hopeful that viewers will look deeper than just her performance to see the beauty in it.
BoA and I are the same age, so when I see her, it reminds me that we’ve both been through quite a bit. I gave it my all during shooting, and I really hope everyone can acknowledge that she did the same.
Thankfully, our show features some really intriguing villains, and though BoA’s entry might seem annoying at first, I believe it sets the stage for an exciting twist. I’m optimistic that viewers will take it in a good light.”

MORE Criticism
A while after criticizing her acting in “Marry My Husband,” netizens also criticized her again for her changing visuals in recent appearances. At the time, BoA defends herself against the haters with praiseworthy replies.
“It seems like no matter what I do, there’s criticism coming my way. When I take care of myself, people have something to say, and when I don’t, they’re still not happy.
If I lose weight, I’m told to gain some back, but if I put on a few pounds, suddenly I’m being called names…
Honestly, I have no idea who you all are out there, but please, don’t spend your lives focusing on negativity like this.
And just so we’re clear, I’m BoA.”
