The queen of 5th generation Kpop groups, BABYMONSTER, is making sensation again! After repeatedly impressed the public with their 7 promising all-rounded members and authentic talents, BABYMONSTER is now ready to take the stage further.
On May 31, BABYMONSTER went viral on X (previously Twitter) and various other social media. Apparently, fans had caught YG Entertainment’s filing a trademark application for a new name a week before.
According to some evidence from fans, YG had applied for a trademark for the word “MONstiez,” which highly resembles BABYMONSTER.
BABYMONSTER Official Fandom Name or New Merch Line?
Due to the uniqueness of the name, fans highly speculated that this new name will be highly associated with BABYMONSTER. And yet, a massive debate is now ongoing among fans on what name will this trademark for.
Some fans believe that “MONstiez” will become the official fandom name for BABYMONSTER. Previously, fans hilariously argued that BABYMONSTER would have a list of ridiculous fandom name, including: BABYMONITOR, BABYSITTER, POCKETMONSTER (a.k.a Pokémon), MONSTER HUNTER, and the literal opposite of its name, ADULTMONSTER.

On the other hand, some fans believe that this name was not intended for the fandom name. After all, there has been no history of YG filing trademark for groups’ fandoms like BLINK or V.I.P. Therefore, others believe that MONstiez will be the name of BABYMONSTER official merch line later.
I’ve been doing some research, I think “MONstiez” isn’t our fandom name because YG never applied trademark for their artist’s fandom. I also noticed it has similar classified code with TRUZ (trsr x line character)

BABYMONSTER Fandom Name Already Exists?
At the same time, others believe that the official fandom name for BABYMONSTER had existed from the very beginning, “BAEMON”.
Indeed, this name was originally the perceived name of YG new girl group. But today, the members have skyrocketed with the name BABYMONSTER. And according to their last hit track, “SHEESH,” the shortened version of the group’s name is B-A-B-Y-M-O-N, or “BABYMON”.

Therefore, while some of the group’s members are still using Baemon to call themselves, it is still highly possible that this name will be used for BABYMONSTER official fandom name later.
