“The Winning Try” Korean Drama (2025)

Written by Lim Jina and directed by Kim Jae Hyun and Kim Ji Yeon, the new Korean drama “The Winning Try,” also known as “Try: We Become Miracles” (“트라이: 우리는 기적이 된다”) will be the first new weekly K-drama from the partnership between Netflix and SBS, which both signed last December 2024. The partnership will bring SBS’s popular programs to Netflix, as well as brand-new weekly K-dramas, in the second half of 2025.
“The Winning Try” makes a breakthrough by bringing “rugby” into the story. This new SBS sports drama combines youth, humor, and a heart to tell a story about second chances, teamwork, and healing broken relationships. The 12 episodes will offer humor, heartfelt moments, and nail-biting rugby scenes.
Storyline
Joo Ga-ram was once a rising rugby star. But his career ended due to a doping scandal. Now, he’s returned to his old high school. This time, he’s coaching a struggling rugby team that cannot seem to win even a single game.
There, he unexpectedly reunites with his ex-girlfriend, Bae Yi-ji, a former shooting coach who now works at the school. Their sudden reunion stirs up old emotions, adding both weight and warmth to his already complicated return.
Ga-ram is stubborn, rough around the edges. But he is determined to reclaim his pride. He wants to guide the team to victory. Garam teams up with Yoon Sung-joon. He is a quiet but resilient team captain who’s still learning how to lead.
The story also introduces key figures, such as Principal Kang Jung-hyo and the rest of the rugby squad, each with their own struggles and growth arcs. Together, they bring the school setting to life with heart, humor, and a whole lot of grit.
