The Netflix Originals drama “Squid Game” left viewers hanging with at least these 10 unanswered questions that we all hope to get answers in the Season 2. However, up until today, the plan for “Squid Game” Season 2 remains a huge mystery.
Mystery of “Squid Game” Season 2: Not in the Near Future
After its international success with only 9 episodes of the drama, “Squid Game” ignited questions from viewers worldwide for the possibility of its Season 2, especially when there are many questions left unanswered.
However, the existence of the “Squid Game” season 2 project remains a mystery up until today. That is because its leader, director Hwang Dong Hyuk, claimed that “Squid Game” was one of his most difficult projects with a long planning process. And he didn’t plan on doing such a thing again in the near future.
“Writing (‘Squid Game’) was harder than normal for me as it was a series, not a film. It took me six months to write and rewrite the first two episodes.” –
director Hwang Dong Hyuk.
The Perfect Team
So, does it mean that “Squid Game” season 2 is entirely impossible? Not at all. Director Hwang Dong Hyuk then added that he would still be willing to continue “Squid Game” to its Season 2, as long as he has the right team.
“I don’t have well-developed plans for ‘Squid Game 2.’ It is quite tiring just thinking about it. But if I were to do it, I would certainly not do it alone. I’d consider using a writers’ room and would want multiple experienced directors.”
director Hwang Dong Hyuk.
This statement means that up until today, director Hwang Dong Hyuk has at least cleared the mystery of “Squid Game” season 2 possibility. It is definitely in the planning, just not in the near future. That is because it would take a long time for the director to find the right team. After all, he also stated that he was not “great at teamwork”.
10 Unanswered Questions to Remember for “Squid Game” Season 2
Provided that “Squid Game” season 2 is not entirely impossible, there are at least 10 questions remained unanswered at the end of the series. Which one of these “Squid Game” unanswered questions makes you wonder the most?
1. The Mysteries Behind “Squid Game” Red-Suit Staffs
The first and foremost iconic character from “Squid Game” is its red-suit henchmen, who patrolled around the participants and shot them right on the head when they made mistakes.
Indeed, we all know that there is some kind of hierarchy around the henchmen with different symbols: circle for the workers who did the dirty works, triangle for the soldiers in charge of maintaining orders, and square for the direct supervisors.
However, until the end of the game, there is no explanation for where these henchmen came from and how they got paid. That is why some viewers drew theories that these henchmen might come from the previous players who managed to go out and refused to return to the game in the early episodes. And others believed that they came from people who chose the red envelope in the recruitment process.
Let’s hope they will tell the story behind these red jumpsuits in Season 2.
2. There are Other Squid Games?
Secondly, on one of the “Squid Game” episodes, The VIPs chatted about the game. They praised the game and told the Front Man, “The contest in Korea was the best”. Does it mean “Squid Game” has other versions played in other countries as well?
One of the VIPs in SQUID GAME said: "The contest in Korea was the best". So are they implying that there are Squid Games around the world? #SquidGame

3. Possible Relationship Between Oh Il Nam and Seong Gi Hun
Thirdly, Squid Game just gave too many hints during the drama, making the viewers wonder whether there was a possibility of a relationship between the old man Oh Il Nam and the lead character Seong Gi Hun.
Also, some viewers believed that Seong Gi Hun is actually the son of participant No. 001, Oh Il Nam, from various scenes within Squid Game.
However, there is also a question of whether Oh Il Nam has a close relation to Seong Gi Hun’s mother since they have the same surname.
4. Is Detective Hwang Jun Ho dead or alive?
We were all disappointed when detective Hwang Jun Ho was shot by the Front Man, and we all assumed that he died. However, if we took a closer look at the scene, you would realize that the bullet actually hit him on the shoulder before he fell off the cliff. Therefore, is he truly dead? Or is he still alive? We definitely hope for an answer in the “Squid Game” season 2.
5. How come Hwang In Ho became the Front Man?
Next, the question above leads to one of the biggest unanswered questions in “Squid Game”. So many people truly wonder how in the world did Hwang Jun Ho’s brother, Hwang In Ho, managed to become the Front Man in the first place.
6. Unanswered Questions about Ali Abdul
Indeed, the death of Squid Game characters leaves so many unanswered questions. One of its famous character’s death that led to unanswered questions was Ali Abdul, played by Anupam Tripathi.
Ali Abdul’s death was a result of Cho Sang Woo’s betrayal in the marble scene. However, we didn’t actually watch the henchman shooting him to death, only the gunshot. Then, we could see his body inside a pretty casket on Episode 7.
However, does it mean that he’s truly dead? And what about his family? Did they return home safely or choose to stay? Let’s find out if they answer these questions in Season 2.
7. Why Sae Byeok’s Death Not Announced?
Ali’s death mystery brought us to the death of another character, Sae Byeok, played by Jung Ho Yeon. While we could see that she clearly died in the end, it still left an unanswered question as to why the game did not announce her death? Does this mean that there is still a possibility of her character returning in “Squid Game” Season 2?
what if i told you that there are theories ab sae byeok still being alive bc they didn’t announce her death through the speakers

8. What Happened to Hwang Jun Ho’s Reports?
Then, we also have remaining unanswered questions about detective Hwang Jun Ho.
Before his brother shot him, Hwang Jun Ho managed to send his reports to his supervisors in the police. However, there seemed to be no follow-up whatsoever to these reports. So, what really happened? Hopefully, they have more answers in the future.
The ending of squid game was so frustrating! What happened to the brother? Did he die? The police got the messages so why didn't they do anything? And what was the front mans story. So many questions unanswered. Need a season 2! #SquidGame

The last episode of “Squid Game” showed how the lead character Seong Gi Hun was determined to take everything down. This determination was shown in a red-hair as one of the symbols. But, the question will be: how will he do it? Will he become the next Front Man because he won the game? Or will he design his own meticulous plan? We’re really expecting his return in the second season.
10. What happened to the rest of Seong Gi Hun’s Money?
Finally, according to the game, Seong Gi Hun managed to win 45.6 billion won in total after he finished the game. What happened to all this money? Aren’t you curious, Kdrama fans?
