PSY Summer Swag Water Show Concert Returns in 2022 After 3 Years Break – Why is it so Popular?
Popular singer PSY is currently working on a magnificent 2022 summer concert. But, unfortunately, he’s holding a concert theme that is deemed inappropriate in the current situation in South Korea.
Starting from June 3, there had been massive concern regarding PSY popular concert, which triggered SEVERE issues from the general public.
Korean singer-rapper PSY announced his popular summer concert series, “PSY The Water Show 2022”, on June 3. It is an annual summer concert where the audience will enjoy splashes of refreshing water in the middle of the summer heat while having fun with the show.
Since its first concert in 2011, PSY water show concert has become extremely popular. That is because it is an iconic concert happening during the summer with a massive amount of water sprayed around the venue using giant water cannons. It becomes the first show that comes into the public’s mind during the summer due to its refreshing nature.
This popular PSY concert has been highly anticipated after its 2022 comeback after a 3-year long break due to the pandemic.
But apparently, the timing is just too “impeccable”.
What REALLY Happened to the Popular PSY Concert?
During his announcement of the concert comeback on June 4 with MBC’s Radio Star, popular singer-rapper PSY stated that he had prepared about 300 tons of water in water trucks for his 2022 water show concert. And the audience can rest assured if they accidentally consumed it during the show because the water he used for the 2022 show will all be drinkable.
While this idea sounds refreshing, the problem lies in the timing.
Why? Because Korea is currently under a severe drought issue.
On June 6, South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs stated that the water supply would still be insufficient to handle the current drought in the country. The Ministry previously conducted an emergency inspection and revealed that the accumulated precipitation nationwide for the past six months up until June 5 was 166.8 mm – only less than half of the average annual rainfall (344.8 mm).
Therefore, the Ministry declared that even after the rainfall happening between June 4 – 5, the water supply would still not be enough to subdue the ongoing drought.

Psy’s wasting 300 tons of water, drinkable water for every concert of his. It’s facing backlash from the netizens. Even a celeb spoke out about wasting that much DRINKABLE water just for a concert. There’s even provinces in Korea that are facing drought,

Before ppl try and defend Psy. Koreans were ok if it was just a one day concert but it’s not, it’s happening in 4 different cites. the fact that his water bomb festival is using 300tons of drinking water each time & being wasted is mad. Especially because of the current drought
