The 2022 masterpiece of the Hong sisters, “Alchemy of Souls” surprised fans with its first trailer release. With the revelation of the video trailer, fans can finally get a glimpse of “Alchemy of Souls” Season 2 without the presence of its previous female lead cast, Jung So Min. Check out the following complete report and see if it will ever be the same.
“Alchemy of Souls” Season 2 First Trailer Release: A Short Glimpse of the New Cast Lineup
After a long time of rising anticipation since the last episode of Season 1, “Alchemy of Souls” finally returns with its Season 2 trailer release. Not only that, we can finally glimpse what “Alchemy of Souls” Season 2 will be like with its new cast lineup.
On November 9, tvN posted the first trailer release of “Alchemy of Souls” Season 2 on various social media platforms, showing the new cast lineup.
The video trailer starts with Lee Jae Wook, who returns as the male lead, Jang Wook. Sitting in silence, solemnly reminiscing about what had happened, Jang Wook returns with a determination to bring justice to everyone.
“I should have died back then. I am someone who shouldn’t exist.
If my power serves as justification, not one person will leave this place alive.”
Jang Wook.
Will It Ever Be the Same Without Jung So Min?
Previously, the drama’s first season aired from June 18 to August 28. It recorded the highest rating of 9.3% and topped the Most Buzzworthy Korean Dramas in August. However, as the story continued, the drama’s popularity decreased especially knowing that the female lead, Jung So Min, would not return for Season 2.
Instead, the female lead in “Alchemy of Souls” Season 2 cast lineup will be Go Yoon Jung, who is famous for her classic beauty. She is a model and actress who recently starred in Lee Jung Jae’s directional debut movie, “Hunt”, as one of the main roles. Previously, she built her acting reputation through Netflix’s hit drama, “Sweet Home”.
Indeed, the female lead change is inevitable due to the drama’s storyline. However, viewers seemed to have fallen in love with Lee Jae Wook – Jung So Min pairing and their heart-melting chemistry.
NEVER Underestimate the Power of the Hong Sisters!
Nevertheless, we can never underestimate the power of the almighty Hong sisters. As legendary screenwriters in the Kdrama industry, the siblings almost always promise not only good but extraordinary storyline in each and every one of their projects.
The departure of Jung So Min from Season 2 cast lineup may be regrettable for most fans. However, with its first video trailer release, the new season guarantees exciting twists and turns with much more intense scenes and storyline.
Finally, both Jang Wook and Naksu have now returned! “Alchemy of Souls” Season 2 is no longer sunshine and rainbows. It is a bloodbath!

🙁
It’s disappointing that they changed the female lead, Jung So Min had great chemistry with the male lead. Season 2 is not that same, the main characters are missing the dynamics which made season 1 enjoyable to watch. I hope she makes a return. The new female lead isn’t even funny. She’s just there to look pretty.
I guess, they might wanna change something like the story lines that might hold them up to the highest rating again. But I still like the female lead on season 1 , they shouldn’t completely cut Jung so min. To continue the deep felling of both leads female and male that’s one of the main fascinating of story.
