The reason for BLACKPINK – THE SHOW postponement
BLACKPINK decided to postpone their virtual concert due to safety reasons. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) reported that there had been 1,078 new cases of COVID-19 in South Korea right now.
Recently, there have been some KPop idols confirmed to be infected by Covid-19. They are Chungha, Golden Child’s Jaehyun, UP10TION’s Bitto and Kogyeol, EVERGLOW’s Yiren and Sihyeon, and Xiao. Therefore, the spike in Covid-19 cases has raised fears of a new cluster in the Korean music industry.
In a video shared on BLACKPINK’s social media accounts, they thank everyone especially the BLINKs for support their first (online) concert. Further, they also explained the reason for the postponement and gave a warm message to the fans during this hard time.
Jisoo revealed the reason they had to postpone BLACKPINK The Show online concert is due to safety reasons. Also, this postponement is to comply with the South Korean government’s stricter health regulations against the COVID-19.
Moreover, she also revealed that BLACKPINK – The Show which originally will be held on December 27, will be postponed until January 31. Also, Blackpink’s Lisa revealed that with THE SHOW they wants to give BLINKS a feeling of hope and comfort during these difficult times and aware of the risks brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, Rosé explained that aside from the online concert, they want to prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved with the show. So, to create a safe environment for “The Show” virtual concert, then they decided to postpone it.
At the end of the video, Jennie conveyed gratitude to all the medical workers and front-liners who sacrificed their time and lives in creating a safe environment from the dangers of corona virus.
