On December 2, an iMBC report revealed that Kakao Entertainment confirmed IU (Lee Ji Eun) and Byeon Woo Seok would take the leading roles in the new MBC romance Korean drama “The 21st Century Prince’s Wife” (working title).
Moreover, MBC will collaborate with Kakao Entertainment to produce the new romance drama. In addition, MBC selected the drama script from its drama script competition.

IU and Byeon Woo Seok’s Roles
Singer-actress IU will play the female lead in the drama, Seong Hee Joo, the second daughter of a prominent chaebol family, known for her striking beauty, intelligence, and strong competitive spirit. Born with a silver spoon in her mouth, she thought being an ordinary person was a trivial matter until she experienced it herself. Hee Joo feels frustrated as she faces many difficulties as an ordinary person. That’s when she meets Lee Ahn.
Byeon Woo Seok will portray the male lead, Prince Lee Ahn, the king’s second son in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy. Despite his royal lineage, he is destined to own nothing. Nevertheless, his life changes when he encounters Seong Hee Joo.
