Held in the Grand Ballroom of Signiel Busan on September 18, the 2025 Buil Film Awards celebrated its 34th edition. The event honored the best of Korean cinema from the past year.

Launched in 1958, the Buil Film Awards ceremony is Korea’s first film award. Although it was suspended in 1973, the event successfully returned in 2008 and has continued ever since.

Hosted by Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee, many top stars attended this year’s ceremony, including Jung Woo-sung, Krystal, Lee Hyeri, Lee Joon-hyuk, Lim Ji-yeon, Shin Hye-sun, Lee Byung-hun, and many more.

A Surprising Best Picture Winner

The biggest award of the night, Best Film, went to “House of the Seasons.” This win was a significant victory for an independent film. It beat many big-budget films. The film depicts a powerful story of a big family’s quiet breakdown.

This year’s top acting awards went to two incredible stars. Lee Byung-hun won Best Actor for his stunning portrayal in “The Match,” while Kim Go-eun won Best Actress for “Love in the Big City.”

The director and supporting cast also drive a film’s success. This year, Hwang Byung-guk earned the Best Director for “Yadang: The Snitch.”

Actor Park Jung-min won Best Supporting Actor for his captivating appearance in “Uprising.” The wonderful Yang Hee-kyung took home Best Supporting Actress for “The Land of Morning Calm.”

The awards also celebrated rising talent. Lee Hyeri had a fantastic night. She won both Best New Actress and Female Star of the Year for her performance in “Victory.” She became the only person to take home two awards!

The Male Star of the Year went to Lee Jun-hyuk for “The Firefighters”. This is his second year in a row winning this award.
