Six Promising Startups Present Bold Visions at Innovation Showcase
The heart of K-Style Expo Q2 2026 was the Startup Pitch Battle. Participants were given just three minutes to pitch, along with a five-minute live Q&A session for each startup. The six startups taking the stage represented a Korean lifestyle landscape that extends far beyond beauty and entertainment.

Hanbridge Scandinavia
Hanbridge Scandinavia launched with the proposition that Scandinavia is a large but vastly underserved market for Korean culture. The startup positions itself as a crucial local partner for Korean tour companies entering Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Aya Ahmad Mohammad created Hanbridge with the vision of addressing significant operational gaps in venue coordination, local talent networks, and community engagement.

LUKAS Edutainment
LUKAS Edutainment, created by Lukas Chang, offers a “Total K Domain” concept: an AI-powered platform built around TOPIK exam preparation that extends to Korean culture, travel, and interactive storytelling. Hojun, a representative for LUKAS Edutainment, explained that, with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Peking University as its first Korean EdTech partner and a $15 million term sheet from Oregon Angel Partners, the startup has shown real traction since its launch in August.

Bare Halal
Founded by Ilham Lahreche, Bare Halal is building a consumer trust infrastructure for the global Muslim market by maintaining a proprietary database of over 2,000 cosmetic ingredients and moving beyond the binary halal/non-halal rating system that currently dominates the space.

SELPHICO
Founded by Marina Dabrytskaya through SAHAR STUDIO, SELPHICO brings AI-powered facial geometry analysis, seasonal color matching, and personalized styling recommendations to a global audience, extending Korea’s highly personalized beauty rituals into international e-commerce.

HAN•GL
HAN•GL, a narrative-based Hangul learning app built in-house with just $1,000. Yuno stated that HAN•GL alone has reached over 11,000 learners across 140+ countries in its first 4 months, with 83% of its user base from Spanish-speaking markets.

Illee
Closing the session, illee presented the successful implementation of the first live K-pop concert in West Africa, held in Ghana and featuring Korean artist SURAN. Ella Okunmwendia of illee revealed that the agency is now targeting a five-city tour across West Africa in the second quarter of 2027, including Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Ghana, and two cities in Nigeria.
What the Global Investor Pitching Event Revealed About Real Standards
As in previous editions, the real value of this event came not only from the presentations, but also from how investors responded. Shakeel Ahamed offered sound advice to founders: avoid over-explaining and over-promotion.
“Make sure investors quickly understand what you’re building in those three minutes. The most important thing to emphasize is your revenue model,” he said.
For LUKAS Edutainment, the discussion centered on long-term sustainability and how the company plans to maintain its competitive advantage over major players in the language learning industry. In response, the founders emphasized their unique advantages, highlighting over ten years of official TOPIK exam material integrated into their AI models.
For illee, Fadhlan Fariz delved into the service’s structure, the division between internal and external operations, and the team composition. The most striking detail was the direct negotiations with SURAN, which saved them $21,000 in artist fees compared to going through a booking agency.
Overall, the pitch session demonstrated that global investors are assessing the clarity of the startup’s business model, competitive advantage, and ability to execute its strategy sustainably. Through the discussions, the founders gained a clear understanding that building a startup that attracts investors requires more than just a strong concept. It also requires a solid and scalable business foundation for the long term.
Startup Innovation That Travels Beyond Borders
K-Style Expo Q2 2026 made one thing clear: startup innovation rooted in Korean culture has expanded far beyond beauty and K-pop. Korean identity itself has become an infrastructure for trust, education, cultural connections, and market expansion. It was built by founders from every corner of the globe, with Korea as its center of gravity.
The judges’ closing remarks captured how the event reflected the growing global influence of Korean culture through innovation-driven business models.
“I find it truly inspiring to see how non-Korean founders are leveraging K-content to build innovative businesses. I’m also very excited to see how these startups continue to grow and evolve in the future.”
Heesun Kim, Founder and CEO of Cuvee April.
“I noticed that some of you tend to over-explain and oversell your ideas, and that approach is often ineffective, especially when pitching to investors. You need to be more structured, focused, and constructive in your presentation. With only three minutes to pitch, it is crucial to use that time wisely and make sure investors immediately understand what you are building. The most important thing you should emphasize is your revenue model, because that is usually where investors begin to see real investment potential.”
Shakeel Ahamed, Founder and CEO of WisePrince LLP.
“This time, we have seen many early-stage startups participating, and I hope all of you continue to gain strong traction and achieve positive growth in the coming months with the products you are building.”
Anthony Rhim, Investment at SparkLab.
