This time, the Minari movie finally earned 2021 Oscar nominations. It also made historic nominations in six different Academy Awards categories. The categories are including Best Director, Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Original Score categories.

Minari’s cast, Steven Yeun, and Youn Yuh Jung, have made 2021 Oscar history for Korean acts. Steven Yeun is the first Asian American nominated in the 2021 Oscar for the Best Actor category.
Meanwhile, Youn Yuh Jung is the first South Korean actress nominated in the 2021 Oscar for the Best Supporting Actress category. In an interview with AP Entertainment, after being informed about the Oscar nomination, actress Youn Yuh Jung had to celebrate with her manager only at her home as she is in self-quarantine after returning from Canada.
