What REALLY Happened Behind the Cafe Rejection Issue for ATEEZ Hongjoong Birthday Event?
In conducting idols’ birthday cafe celebration event, most cafes usually do it on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, it seems that YELLOW BIRTHDAY has a whole different idea in mind.
According to the fans’ testimonies, they asked for a booking in the cafe from November 5 to 7 last year. However, instead of checking the available schedule, the cafe owner asked about which artist the fan was planning to hold the event. Then, when the fan revealed the artist’s name, the cafe replied by stating that they had planned to take reservations for a different artist.
The issue is that the cafe had not yet received any reservation regarding the other artist’s birthday. And the proof was in the cafe’s Twitter post. However, they rejected the reservation because the cafe preferred to conduct birthday events for the other celebrity.
From the date and fan acc mentioned, the rejection issue by YELLOW BIRTHDAY cafe might have been for the ATEEZ Hongjoong birthday cafe event.
It is NOT The Only Incident
Once the rejection issue for the ATEEZ Hongjoong birthday cafe event circulated on social media, other testimonies started appearing. Apparently, it was NOT the only incident when the cafe rejected a birthday cafe event for certain idols because they preferred the more famous ones.
In another testimony, a fan was planning to hold a birthday cafe event for Rocket Punch Suyun between March 12 and 13 this year. However, the cafe stated that their available schedule for those dates is only available for another celebrity’s birthday.
The cafe then posted an official announcement that they were searching for reservations for their preferred artist instead.
“We are currently taking reservations for cupholder birthday cafe events in April, May and June. And we’re looking for reservations for [artist name] from June 15 to 18. Also, we will take reservations for [artist names] in May and [artist names] in June.”

In addition to the rejection issue, some customers also complained that the cafe was overpriced. Besides, they only allow reservations only if the event organizer is present to help set up and clean up the decoration. And most importantly, no helpers or friends are allowed to replace the event organizer. They have to do everything in person themselves.
Naturally, in addition to the rejection issue of ATEEZ Hongjoong birthday cafe event, YELLOW BIRTHDAY cafe’s service and requirements became major issues.
YELLOW BIRTHDAY Cafe Apologizes via Official Statement
Furthermore, the rejection issue on ATEEZ Hongjoong and other idols’ birthday event grew viral in international media. Therefore, YELLOW BIRTHDAY cafe finally decided to post their official apology.

“Hello. This is Yellow Birthday.
Firstly, we truly apologize for having hurt your feelings by picking and selecting the reservations we accept. We were in the middle of creating a set of rules for the usage of our cafe through a few events that we had experienced, considering that we opened only recently. Once again, we apologize if you are uncomfortable about our rules and information.
As we are also a business operating for profit, we of course set the standards by profit. Unfortunately, these standards have also hurt the fans. We admitted to have been inconsiderate due to my greed. I apologize.
Currently, we set a standard of 20 visitors per day for the weekend sales. This rule is to prevent the daily sales during the event to be lower than our regular days. After all, the events are held during our operating hours.
Regarding for the limit set on the bottled drinks, the bottles are ordered in bulk. That is why if they are leftover, we cannot reuse them. We will have to throw them out. Hence, we made a decision that only takeout would be possible and that we would not accept event bottles. This standard was set for 50 visitors a day. Also, this is due to the fact that we have a minimum production quantity for bottled drinks per drink.
Once more, we apologize to those who were hurt. In the future, we will put in our efforts to operate righteously. Sorry.”
