YG girl group, Blackpink, has taken over the world since their debut in 2016. Not only because of their music and performances but their bond between members. It seems like they are destined to be together forever. However, recently a rumor spread that agencies are competing to have Blackpink’s all-rounder to be their artist. Is Lisa leaving YG?
Lisa Is Leaving YG, BLACKPINK Disband?
Previously reported that Blackpink contract with YG Entertainment is about to expire in August 2023. Rumors said they would sign to another label but still remain as a group. However, there is nothing to confirm the rumor. YG stated that they would renew the contract with Blackpink.
However, another rumor is spread. An industry insider said the group’s true all-rounder, Lalisa Manoban, is offered KRW 100 (approximately US$ 81.2 million) to leave YG Entertainment.
With her vocal, rapping, and dancing skills, no one will refuse Lisa to be their artist. As a result, Lisa is gaining interest from many companies outside Korea, especially in South East Asian countries.
“From what I understand, [agencies] in countries like China expressed their desire to offer guarantees around ₩100 billion KRW (about $81.2 million USD) won to Lisa, who has complete influence in not only her home country of Thailand but the Southeast Asian market. When you take into consideration the scale of the Korean market, it’ll be hard for [Korean agencies] to handle that kind of offer.”

However, it will be a challenging thing for Lisa to decide. She has been with the group for almost seven years, and they have climbed the ladder of fame together.
Lisa leaving is upsetting, but we support
Meanwhile, fans shared mixed reactions. It will be upsetting if Lisa leaves the group that Blinks have rooted since 2016. However, despite the bond between Blackpink members and Blinks, some fans support Lisa leaving YG, considering how the agency treated her all these years.

Lisa has received nothing but poor management and sabotage from yg. For the well-being of her career, she needs to leave. Please look out for yourself this time Lisa and leave for better company.

YG Stock Dropped
On January 19, it was also reported that YG Entertainment stock has been dropping since the contract expiration issue came out. Worse, it keeps dropping as the “ransom money” and Lisa leaving YG rumors spread.
“Despite the existence of various momentum, the stock price is still undervalued compared to competitors, reflecting concerns as Blackpink’s contract expiration approaches, which is until August this year.”

Meanwhile, Blackpink is still busy with their world tour, which gathers more than 1.5 million people. If we calculate the revenue, the concert sales alone reach KRW 180 billion. We have yet to count the album sales and other activities.
Considering the situation, YG might better offer a down payment of at least KRW 20 billion per member to keep Blackpink with them.
