‘Celebrity’ is a pre-release song of IU for her upcoming 5th full-album. It is an electronic pop genre with a hint of a tropical house. She wrote the lyrics herself. Meanwhile, the music was composed and arranged by Ryan S Jhun, Jeppe London Bilsby, Lauritz Emil Christiansen, Chloe Latimer, and Celine Svanback.

The song was released on January 27 and quickly blasted to the top of Melon’s 24Hits, Bugs, Genie Music, Flo, and Vive’s real-time charts. Behind “Celebrity” lyrics by IU

On January 9, IU revealed her new song project onstage at the 35th Golden Disk Awards when she accepted her Daesang for Digital Song of the Year 2020. She was hoping that it can bring sincere comfort to the ones who are feeling drained and suffering. She also thinks that she could release a refreshing song and give people strength.

Regarding the song lyrics, IU explained that she wrote what he wanted to say to her “special friend.” She added that her friend has unique tastes, talents, defense mechanisms, and personality. But she has been treated as a weird person just because she is different from others.

Also, IU shared, “As I was working on it, I realized that it was also my story.
