Exciting Reasons to Watch “Check in Hanyang”
1. Historical K-drama with a Hotel Theme
“Check in Hanyang” is a historical youth romance drama. Set in the Joseon Dynasty era, the story is against the background of Joseon’s Grandest Inn, Yongcheonru. This drama will be the latest historical K-drama genre with a hotel theme, following “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse” in 2023. Therefore, the audience can expect an exciting story and new experience centered around a guesthouse in the Joseon era.
2. Compelling Storyline
Yongcheonru is the most prominent and fanciest guesthouse in Joseon, and it believes that guests are very important—like kings! There are four new interns at the guesthouse, each with their own reason for being there.
In 16 episodes, the audience will follow the new interns’ stories, see how their lives connect, and witness how they grow together while working at Yongcheonlu.
3. Promising Main Cast
The main cast of “Check in Hanyang” consists of four talented young talents: Bae In Hyuk, Kim Ji Eun, Jung Gun Joo, and Park Jae Chan. Here are their characters in the drama:
Bae In Hyuk as Prince Lee Eun/Lee Eun Ho
Prince Lee Eun hides his identity under the name Lee Eun Ho while working as an intern at Yongcheonru. He enters the inn with a secret mission to protect the royal family from Yongcheonru’s manipulative owner, Cheon Bang Ju. While carrying out his mission, he feels awkward because he has to adapt to a new environment, leaving his comfort zone in the palace.
Kim Ji Eun as Hong Deok Soo
Hong Deok Soo is a woman who is searching for the truth behind her father’s death. She pretends to be a man and hides her true identity while working at Yongcheonlu. Starting her internship job, she dreams of becoming the head of Yongcheonru one day, which is also an ideal workplace for the youth in Joseon.
Jung Gun Joo as Chun Jun Hwa
Chun Jun Hwa is an easygoing young man. His father is Cheo Bang Ju, the owner of Yongcheonru, whose financial influence gives him power beyond that of a king. However, Jun Hwa is reluctant to become the successor to the prestigious and most magnificent guesthouse in Joseon. Therefore, his father forces him to work in the inn as an intern.
Park Jae Chan as Go Soo Ra
Go Soo Ra is a handsome young man who is working hard as an intern at Yongcheonru to help his family’s condition, hoping to become a real employee soon. He aims to succeed and become a top officer to restore his family’s reputation.
4. First Historical K-drama for Park Jae Chan and Kim Ji Eun
The new historical K-drama “Check in Hanyang” will mark Park Jae Chan and Kim Ji Eun’s first roles in the historical drama genre. Additionally, this drama will be Kim Ji Eun’s first experience portraying a woman in disguise as a man.
5. Bae In Hyuk’s Duality
Actor Bae In Hyuk debuted in the historical genre with a supporting role portraying Crown Prince Seongnam in “Under the Queen Umbrella” on Netflix in 2022. Following the success of this hit series, he took on the lead role in MBC’s time travel drama “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” alongside Lee Se Young. In this drama, he plays two roles: CEO Kang Tae Ha and the late husband of Lee Se Young’s character in the Joseon era.
Continuing his impressive performances in historical dramas, Bae In Hyuk will next showcase his duality in the new K-drama “Check in Hanyang,” where he plays the serious and responsible Prince Lee Eun and the awkward intern Lee Eun Ho.
