The Korean remake film was first screened at the 29th BUSAN International Film Festival in September 2024. The film was officially released in cinemas in November, followed by premieres in Taiwan and Vietnam in December.
“Hear Me: Our Summer” Storyline
Yong-jun (Hong Kyung), who has just graduated from college, has not figured out what he wants to do or become. Therefore, his parents asked him to work part-time in their lunchbox shop, delivering lunch boxes.
One summer day, he was delivering lunch boxes to a swimming pool where a group of female athletes with hearing impairment were practicing. There, he experienced an encounter made in heaven. He couldn’t take his eyes off Yeo-reum, marking a heart-pounding moment of love at first sight.
He observed the two sisters communicating with their hands in Korean Sign Language, which he is also fluent in. With the courage he mustered and his great interest in Yeo-reum, he set aside his shyness and approached Ga-eul (Kim Min-ju), Yeo-reum’s younger sister, to find out more about Yeo-reum.
Finally, Yong-jun was able to close with Yeo-reum and Ga-eul. Besides communicating with sign language, he tried to listen and understand them with heart. However, just as he thought his relationship with Yeo-reum was finally getting closer, she suddenly distanced herself from him.
