“The Tyrant’s Chef”
The new Korean drama “The Tyrant’s Chef” is a fantasy romance series. The story follows a female chef, Yeon Ji Young, who has exceptional French cuisine skills and lives in France. One day, she must return to Korea due to her father’s health condition.
Moreover, she experiences time travel, where she travels back to the Joseon era, 500 years ago, and meets the King of Joseon, a master in gourmet cuisine and the most notorious tyrant of that time. After the King approves of her cooking, she takes on the role of chef in the royal kitchen.
The upcoming drama is a live adaptation of a popular webtoon of the same name. Director Jang Tae Yoo, renowned for his work in romantic comedies, will direct the series. His successful romantic comedy hits include “Knight Flower,” “Lovers of the Red Sky,” and “My Love from the Star.”
In addition, “The Tyrant’s Chef” will reportedly premiere on tvN this year, with 12 episodes.
Lee Chae Min and YoonA’s Potential First Collaboration
Earlier, YoonA, famous for her recent role in “King the Land,” was courted to take the female lead role in the upcoming fantasy series. If Lee Chae Min accepts the offer, the upcoming drama will mark his first collaboration with YoonA, an actress who is ten years older than he is.
Lee Chae Won received his first leading role in the thriller romance drama “Hierarchy” (2024). Following the series, he received his second leading role in the upcoming 2025 drama release, “Crushology 101,” also known as “Bunny and Her Boys.”
Consequently, this new role could be his third leading role since his acting debut in “High Class” (2021), which shows his continued growth. Additionally, the upcoming drama could also be his second historical drama after “Alchemy of Souls Season 2.”
Moreover, besides “Crushlogy 101,” his other highly anticipated new project is “Cashero.” He will work alongside Lee Junho, Kim Hye Jun, Kim Hyang Gi, and Kim Byung Chul in this superhero fantasy series.
Furthermore, some popular actors who will join “The Tyrant’s Chef” are Kang Ha Na, Seo Yi Sook, and Oh Eui Shik.
