The 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards 2025, held at the glamorous Paradise City Hotel on July 18 and hosted for the fourth consecutive year by the charismatic duo Jun Hyun Moo and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA, celebrated a year of groundbreaking storytelling from streaming platforms.

Netflix Dominates with “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” “The Trauma Code,” and “Culinary Class Wars”

The night’s most prestigious honor, the Grand Prize (Daesang), was claimed by the sweeping, emotionally resonant drama “When Life Gives You Tangerines.” The series’ triumphs didn’t stop there, as global icon IU (Lee Ji Eun) won her first-ever Best Actress Award and delivered a moving acceptance speech by calling the project “the proudest work of my life.” IU dedicated the honor to the characters she portrayed. Veteran actress Yeom Hye Ran also took home the Best Supporting Actress award for her remarkable performance.

Sharing the spotlight was “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.” The hit medical-action series earned the coveted award for Best Drama. Its lead, Ju Ji Hoon, was crowned Best Actor for his intense and charismatic turn as a brilliant but rebellious doctor. “Bringing a comic book to life is no easy feat,” Ju said, crediting the crew for making the fantastic feel real. Rounding out the show’s triple win, the breakout star Choo Young Woo won Best New Actor.
In the variety and entertainment categories, Netflix’s cooking competition “Culinary Class Wars” was named Best Variety Show. At the same time, the beloved Kian84 (Netflix’s “Kian’s Bizarre B&B”) won for Best Male Entertainer.
Unforgettable Moments
The ceremony was not only about honoring the excellence, but also sharing humor and unforgettable moments that had the audience buzzing.
Lee Kwang Soo won the Best Supporting Actor award for Netflix’s thriller “Karma” and brought the house down with a hilarious anecdote. He shared that his co-star in the upcoming series “The Manipulated,” D.O. (Do Kyung-soo), had recently told him about a dream in which Lee died from an infection after getting a hair transplant. “He cursed me out but said it was a lucky dream,” Lee deadpanned. “Thanks, D.O.!”
The evening also featured a classic, light-hearted award show mix-up. When the winners of the fan-voted Popularity Award were announced, actor Lee Jun Young mistakenly headed to the stage, thinking his name had been called instead of the actual winner, Lee Jun Hyuk. Lee Jun Young diffused the confusion quickly with a gracious hug for the winner. This hilarious event became one of the most endearing and talked-about moments of the night.
