August 2025 K-pop Group Brand Reputation Rankings: BTS & BLACKPINK #1

Every month, the Korean Business Research Institute reveals the most popular groups in the K-pop world. The rankings are based on a brand reputation index from consumer behavior analysis, which includes media coverage, fan buzz, and online interactions with their favorite groups.
This August, the institute analyzed 65,590,668 pieces of K-pop boy group brand big data from July 9 to August 9, 2025. Compared to 62,605,126 pieces of brand big data in July, this number saw a 4.77 percent increase.
Meanwhile, the institute analyzed 51,332,730 pieces for the K-pop girl group from July 10 to August 10, 2025. Compared to 58,566,893 pieces of girl group brand big data in July, the index decreased by 12.35 percent.
Global superstars BTS and BLACKPINK maintained their unshakeable grip on the number one spots, proving their power is as strong as ever. But while they lead the pack, the race behind them is getting more interesting by the month.
Among the top 50 boy and girl groups, numerous rookie groups have garnered massive attention from K-pop fans.

BTS: The Kings Keep Building Anticipation
The seven-member group is keeping anticipation high following their discharge. The excitement for their comeback is buzzing, and fans are loving every update. Fans are counting down to Spring 2026, when BTS will make their grand comeback with a new album and world tour. To tide fans over ahead of their comeback, the group dropped their first-ever live album, PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – SEOUL, on July 18, 2025.
While rumors of a Michael Jackson tribute album turned out to be false, the group’s focus is clearly on their forthcoming monumental comeback. With Suga, J-hope, and Jin having already completed solo tours, all eyes are on Jungkook, RM, Jimin, and V to see who might hit the road next.
For the group’s brand reputation rankings in August, the seven-member group achieved a brand reputation index of 8,863,047. It decreased by 12.49 percent from 10,128,032 in July.
In the link analysis, the institute found the most popular terms of the group: ‘tour,’ ‘record,’ and ‘advertise.’ And in the keyword analysis, they found the words ‘live album,’ ‘Billboard,’ and ‘concert’ as their most popular keywords. They earned a massive 93.51 percent positive feedback, with fans talking most about their tour, records, and concerts.

BLACKPINK: A Four-Month Reign and a Fresh New Hit
BLACKPINK secured the #1 spot on K-pop girl group rankings for four straight months since May 2025. The group, which recently celebrated its ninth anniversary on August 8, dominated the August 2025 rankings with an impressive brand reputation index of 8,496,216 this August, with a slight 0.09 percent increase in comparison to July’s brand reputation index of 8,488,643.
So, what’s driving their unshakable popularity? In the link analysis, the top-related terms directly tied to their latest activities were ‘breakthrough,’ ‘compete,’ and ‘challenge.’ For keyword analysis, the top-searched keywords were “Jump,” “ninth anniversary,” and “world tour.” The group received an incredible 92.02 percent positive feedback.
The group kicked off their “Deadline World Tour” in July, partnering with Google to enhance tour access via Google Maps features. They also released “Jump,” their newest track in almost three years, on July 11, 2025. The track achieved global chart success, including hitting #1 on the Billboard Global 200 and topping charts in numerous Asian countries.
Recently, the members earned nominations for the VMA 2025. Rosé earned the most nominations with eight nods, seven of which were for her collaboration with Bruno Mars in “APT.” Her track “toxic till the end” against Jennie’s “like JENNIE,” Jisoo’s “Earthquake,” Lisa’s “BORN AGAIN” (ft. Doja Cat and Raye), and other K-pop artists for Best K-pop of the year.
According to reports, BLACKPINK is set to make a full-group comeback with a new mini album this November. If confirmed, this will be their first new album since “BORN PINK” in September 2022.
