BLACKPINK, NewJeans, IVE, BABYMONSTER, and aespa emerged as the top five girl groups. BLACKPINK Leads Kpop Girl Group Brand Reputation Rankings in December 2023
The Korea Business Research Institute conducted an analysis of the brand big data for multiple girl groups to determine the rankings of the most popular K-pop girl groups for December 2023.
From November 10, 2023, to December 10, 2023, the Institute collected and analyzed the brand big data for female groups to calculate the brand reputation index. They considered essential factors such as participation, media coverage, communication, and community engagement for a comprehensive analysis.
In December 2023, the total big data for girl group brands amounted to 51,479,104. This amount represented a 3.92 percent decrease compared to the big data recorded in November, which was 53,579,831.
Based on this analysis, BLACKPINK, NewJeans, IVE, BABYMONSTER, and aespa secured the top five positions as the most popular K-pop girl groups for December 2023.
Top 5 Kpop Girl Groups
1. BLACKPINK
Kpop girl group BLACKPINK, who were recently awarded Honorary MBEs by King Charles, claimed the top spot in the brand reputation rankings for female groups this month. Additionally, all group members have renewed their contract with YG Entertainment for future group activities. According to a comprehensive analysis, BLACKPINK achieved the following indices:
- Participation Index: 225,420
- Media Index: 1,051,802
- Communication Index: 1,660,991
- Community Index: 3,210,629
As a result, BLACKPINK’s brand reputation index for December reached 6,148,842. This figure marks a significant 55.71% increase compared to November’s brand reputation index of 3,948,959.
Additionally, the Institute identified “full group” and “Yang Hyun Suk” as noteworthy keywords associated with BLACKPINK’s brand reputation. Meanwhile, in the link analysis, the Institute discovered that “contract renewal,” “soar,” and “sign” were the most popular terms related to the group. Furthermore, in the positivity-negativity analysis, BLACKPINK received a score of 93.54 percent positive reactions.
2. NewJeans
ADOR’s K-pop girl group, NewJeans, who received the Daesang for Artist of the Year at the 2023 MelOn Music Awards, dropped to the second position this month. According to a comprehensive analysis, the group achieved the following indexes:
- Participation Index: 462,740
- Media Index: 1,114,443
- Communication Index: 698,020
- Community Index: 2,455,015
As a result, NewJeans’ brand reputation index for December reached 4,730,218. This figure represents a slight decrease of 0.02% compared to the brand reputation index of 4,731,348 in November.
3. IVE
Starship’s K-pop girl group, who recently received two nominations at the 28th Golden Disc Awards, dropped to the third place this month. Based on a comprehensive analysis, they achieved the following indexes:
- Participation Index: 312,256
- Media Index: 862,594
- Communication index: 1,286,030
- Community Index: 2,086,482
As a result, IVE’s brand reputation index for December reached 4,547,363. This figure represents a decrease of 1.82% compared to November’s brand reputation index of 4,631,502.
4. BABYMONSTER
The new K-pop girl group, BABYMONSTER, who recently made their highly anticipated debut on November 27 with their single “Batter Up,” landed in the fourth position this month. According to a comprehensive analysis, the sextet group achieved the following indexes:
- Participation Index: 285,872
- Media Index: 662,281
- Communication Index: 776,544
- Community Index: 966,531
BABYMONSTER, the rookie K-pop girl group from YG Entertainment, newly entered the brand reputation rankings for female girl groups in November. The group achieved a brand reputation index of 2,691,229 this month.
5. aespa
The quartet group aespa, whose song “Better Thing,” was featured on The New York Times Music Critic’s “Best Songs Of 2023,” climbed to the fifth position in the current rankings. Based on the analysis, they achieved the following:
- Participation Index: 200,328
- Media Index: 567,127
- Communication Index: 361,899
- Community Index: 1,465,250
aespa scored a remarkable 2,594,605 in December, showcasing a notable increase of 16.07% compared to November’s brand reputation index of 2,235,360.
